But worse torque-to-weight ratio than 03-05. Show me the torque!

Don't forget that HP and torque ratings were redone about the same time the HR engine dropped. That is why the RX8 went even lower to 232 HP and the Z ONLY had 5 or more HP (give or take...).

The newer Z is MUCH faster, with its lower torque than the first run Z's.

Perhaps we can find some DE vs HR dyno graphs to show this difference once and for all.

+1...the HR is more like 15 hp more, which makes the 370z almost 50hp more

Hah, I just realized where these HP/TQ figures came from. I think someone just copied and pasted the numbers from the Nismo 380RS Z from Japan. I think it has the exact same power ratings as the one mentioned in the OP. I think we can confirm fail.

OK. For those that talk smack about the DE vs HR torque ratings, realize that the 03-05 cars were under the OLD power standards which weren't very strict, nor very good at indicating the true power of the engine. The HR engine makes significantly more power (10%) and slightly more torque. Period.

To play devil's advocate...yes, even though the DE was rated under past SAE standards, it was still rated accurately (when compared to today's new standard). Notice that all other VQ cars were re-rated for 05 and 06, except the Z.

Well if those spec's from NFS:U are correct and with a curb weight 3200 or lower then the 370z might be a bad *** car. But again I say Nissan it needs FI.

But that ain't stock, so bolt all that **** on a HR, and you will see similar if not better gains.

LOL! I have the same dilemma! The Z is paid off, with 65k miles, looking good and works great! But in other hand, I want to get the new Nismo 370z or the S-Tune 370z, but probably have to finance 25k - 30k depends on the trade-in... what to do.. what to do..

I'm a DE owner and yes even a 3.5L HR would give your modded DE problems let alone a 3.7L version that is lighter than your car. you also have to consider that HR gets power all the way to redline which already set higher than your DE.

wow...i'm just sick of hearing people arguing who's engine is better...you have to realize that there IS ALWAYS something better out there, and the way technology is going, it seems like your advances in basic technology where you buy something and the next day something better is out...SO with that in mind just enjoy the hell out of what you currently have and quit bickering!

I received a PM recently who works at Marketingworks, who is currently partnered with Nissan to distribute content and updates around the launch of the all new Z. He's given me a link to the 3 pictures, which I'm sure all of us have seen already. However, in the most recent PM, he sent me this. Hopefully, it's not a repost?

Not sure why you're even chiming in a NA comparison... What do you even know about NA? FI is a different game altogether... So... what was your point again?

FI HR VS my FI DE with same boost and mods... my boosted DE would get walked. HR with slightly less boost would beat me too. its just fact. thats my point. im not afraid to admit it.
