There's so much tire grip that the engine almost bogs at the starting line, yet 60 mph comes up in just 5.1 seconds (4.9 seconds with 1 foot of rollout like on a drag strip). The new Z-car is no featherweight, as this test car's 3,359 pounds prove, but it does serious business, as the quarter-mile comes up in 13.4 seconds at 104.8 mph. It also comes to a stop from 60 mph in only 101 feet.
Finally, now all the speculation and estimates will stop.

Don't forget the skidpad of .97g. I think the 350 was .91. That is a MASSIVE improvement, even without considering how compliant they say the suspension is.

The 350 can reach those levels of grip with some suspension mods, but you might knock your fillings out on a bumpy road.

Holy crap! I missed that. Ok I don't think there are many cars on the road that can stop that quickly. That number's so low it's almost doubtful.

I was really hoping for a 4.8 0-60 and high 12's in the 1/4 mile, but I think it'll be a ton of fun for $30k! With better drivers, we'll see better times.

Brutal review, NOT what I was expecting. Decent numbers, but compared to thier test of the 08 nismo 350, it performs nearly the same. Not even a 70mph slalom, these handling figures are nearly identical to 10+ year old cars of the 300zx, rx-7 and the supra. The 370z was supposed to handle on rails, atleast that was what it appeard their goal was. Mediocre at best compared to the competition.

Good article, and the performance is decent. I've never experienced a Z with an HR motor, so I don't know what that is like. Hopefully the step from my '03 to this new one is a good upgrade in terms of more engine response throughout the rev range. Think it's quicker?

Yeah, I was hopeful also. With some work I'm sure the car could be markedly improved.

And that's stock, Just think, set of nice R888's, lighter wheels, and some coilovers... Track monster anyone. Ugly, but none the less performance oriented. And I must say the interior is worlds better than the 350 as well.

No need to worry all you 0-60 and 1/4 mile guys, once C/D or M/T test it those numbers will drop a couple tenths either it be the auto or 6 spd.......Edmunds is almost always a few/couple tenths slower!

You beat me to it. Edmunds numbers are ALWAYS higher. They stated the 135i did 0-60 in 5.3 seconds. That is very high as that car can do it in 4.7 seconds. Wait for real drivers to test it out.....

I think it is more important the chassis has been tightened up, it corners well, and braking is improved, that is what makes a car fun to drive.

If all you want to do is go 0 to 60 in less than 5 seconds for the price of a Z, get a Evo X. Me, I'll take the Z, and look good going slow.

I don't think people understand what 0-60 times are. stop being stupid, stupid people.

and holy ****, 3350? that seems entirely too heavy to be real. is that with like a fat chick in the seat and a full tank of gas maybe?

LOL @ all the bench racers who fail to comprehend such numbers.

As far as the 3350 lbs, ofcourse its going to weight more than the manufacture stated weight since it will have more variables added to it (more fluids, other misc things). People just fail to understand how to use manufacture stated weight as opposed to the numbers that come out of an independent test. As you can see from their tests, it still weighs 95 lbs LESS than the 08's.
