370z too similar to the 350z
Nissan developed this trend, so I think it's only natural for anyone familiar with the Z to have expected the 370 to be an incremental evolutionary step of the 350. From a performance standpoint, it is...no question. But visually Nissan has done something different with the 370. They tried to keep the influence of the 350 while incorporating the older 240 series lines.
I was initially intrigued when I first read and saw some of the spy shots but ultimately I'm disappointed. I think it should be a clear incremental step of the 350 "series" until the next true generation will emerge. But that's just me.
Ive been looking at the 370Z pictures long and hard since the spy photo's and im just not feeling it. Gone are the smooth blended body lines, and the the simple headlights and taillights the would flow with the cars shape. It just doesn't look balanced to me. RX-7 for example has some of the most flowy, clean body lines and in my opinion still one of the best looking cars even today.

Oh yeah and almost forgot SteveNice85 cameros are lame, they been lame since day 1 and carry on the legacy even today. Not to mention there helping GM on its trip to bankruptcy.

I think people forget how far the new Z has come. Here is a comparison
03' 350z 09' 370z
287hp @ 6200rpm 332hp @ 7000rpm
274tq @ 4800rpm 270tq @ ????(4400-5000)
6600 rpm redline 7500 rpm redline
11.6" front rotors/11.5" rear rotors 12.6" front rotors/12.1" rear rotors
3197lbs(enthusiast) 3232lbs(base)
So that is 45 more hp. 900 more rpms. An inch wider rotors, and only a miniscule 35lbs more. Hell if the weight is such a big thing go on a diet. Overall I bet the car hanldes better, stops faster, and is hella quicker with the new valve timing. Then again I guess if you have a NismoZ I would stick with that. But if you are looking for a new car then this will be a great deal. And the look makes me think of the older Zs.

Not to mention the old 287hp is not the same as the newly SAE rated 332hp. I'm not entirely sure the % difference, but the new motor would have been closer to the "old" rating of about 350 hp.
Is it just me or does the 370 look too similar to the 350? I currently have a 350z and i really wanted to get the 370 or should i say i was really interested in it, but now that the photos have been released i have decided that i won't think twice about buying this car. The change was too subtle, just like the way the G35 compares to the G37, unless you are into cars like most of us on here, it would be hard to tell the difference between the two if they passed by on the streets! The change i was looking for was more on the drastic side, im talking about 300zx-350z drastic! I guess its the 2010 Camaro SS for me.

I'm a bit offended that you think the 370 looks similar to the 350 to be honest. The 350 is visually pleasing work of art, as for the 370... lets just say I've seen better looking things flushed down the toilet.
The only people who will tell you otherwise and try convince you that it's "bold" or "making a statement" in terms of style are the really really hardcore Z-fans who won't say a bad word about a Z car. Ever. Period.
So keep your feet on the ground and keep your 350, resist the change, brother!

I guess everyone is different. I wasn't impressed with the first spy shots of the 370Z, but after seeing a video with all angles in it, I was impressed.
Not so impressed that it would make me break my rule of picking the right new car and then drive it til it dies. I'm extremely happy with the 350 and barring an accident, I'll enjoy it for a couple hundred thousand more miles (My Pathfinder has 320,000 miles on it).

It's called a "personal opinion" buddy, all you need to do is disagree, this forum would be better without posters like you!
