Car & Driver 370Z road test
So this kind of confirm Edmunds numbers are slower, then again this test was carry out in Michigan where temperature was 43 & 50 on their sheet, maybe it got a little more cold air than Edmunds did in California???
Either way, looks like I will get my hands on one soon. I'm thinking anything in the car I can remove to save weight besides the spare....
So then the Cayman will be on point with MT's test of 4.7!!!
It still remains to be seen how they match on the track. As long as the Z is close to the current Cayman, I do not care about the 320hp one. There will ALWAYS be a someone badder. And, let's face it... Porsche WAS NOT going to let themselves be bested twice by Nissan, GT-R AND 370Z....
At least Porsche showed their cards before the Nismo....now Nissan can make the Nismo fight the 320 HP Cayman S. Just give the Nismo 345 to 350 HP and it should be able to trade blows with it.

What are you talking about? So far, its about even with the 2009 Cayman S 320hp with its claimed 0-60 of 4.9.
Decent review. Sounds like a winner once we all get past just looking at it. Just a tenth behind the old Cayman S they said to 60mph...320hp upcoming Cayman S upgrade with PDK is gonna keeeelll the 370z lol...Oh well the Nismo version is gonna get it or at least close to it....Thanks for the link OP.
Damn, can't remember where I saw this but some mag or something stated that it was drag limited to 165mph. Wish I could remember but with some many new articles popping up it's hard to keep track
Although Nissan’s engineers had to add nearly 200 pounds of safety and regulatory bric-a-brac, the car is only 33 pounds heavier than the 350Z we tested in June of ’07, in part because the hatch, A-pillars, and doors are now aluminum. We know, because we attacked them with a “Big Sky” fridge magnet.
OHHHHH. MY BAD!! I did not realize the 320 Cayman S was the 4.9 0-60!! COOL!!! Then, depending on the driver, the 370Z could beat a Cayman to 60.
COOL!!! Thanks for the sensor!!
However, this is no knock against the 370z as the Cayman S obviously should be faster considering it costs twice as much. Plus, the 370z should handily beat the base Cayman in acceleration. The 370z sounds like its an outstanding car (exterior design reservations aside).
In my opinion, although the HR 350z and the pre-09 Cayman S may have been similar in terms of numbers, in terms of feel it wasn't even a contest. However, initial reviews seem to imply that gap has been narrowed significantly...
I promise you the 09 Cayman S will 0-60 faster than the 370z, esp. with the PDK transmission. 4.9 sec is a conservative FACTORY estimate, but with launch control and a mid-engine layout, it will pull faster 0-60 times than the 370z. However, I would not be surprised if it does not trap more than a mph or two faster in the quarter mile b/c the power to weight ratio is not significantly better than the 370z.

Just to be clear the Cayman S is said to do 0-100km/h in 4.9 sec....which is equal to 0-62mph not 0-60mph FWIW. PDK will be damn quick also...
You're misinterpreting what they stated. The whole chassis itself was much lighter than the 350Z. But adding all the safety equipment neglected much of that. Hence, same model for same model, its only a little lighter (though you keep on arguing that its heavier).

What's the price on a Cayman? $50K - $60K? I don't think these two cars would really play in the same market space. Someone seriously looking at the Caymen is, IMO, not really interested in the Z.
Porsche's own website lists the Cayman S at 5.1 for 0-60
The Z is half the price of the Cayman S, and even if the new Cayman runs a 4.6 or 4.7... we're talking 2/10th of a second quicker for double the price and a Porsche name plate?
$59,910 for a Cayman S or $69,900 for the Cayman S Sport. (without options)
Yeah, I think I'll stick with a Z. Last time I checked the economy isn't exactly friendly.
Hell, I can buy TWO 370z's for the price of ONE Cayman S and I should point out, the Cayman S I posted about doesn't have the world famous Porsche options lists (read: over priced fluff) so the Cayman S is closer to 80-90 once all is said and done.
Yeah, 370Z FTW.
if I was going to drop 70 on a car, it sure as hell wouldn't be a Cayman S Sport, I'd be looking for a GT-R from the midwest where you can still find them for MSRP.

So....You guys are saying the 2009 Cayman S will be just as fast as the 2008 911 Carrera S, which does the 0-60 in 4.6??? The Base does it in 4.8. That is ridiculous. Apparently, Porsche has way too many models in their line-up. This 370z will be competing with 100's of different Porsche models.
