Car & Driver 370Z road test
I've also seen that video (I believe it was driver's republic) and it is my understanding that the 911 S was only able to keep up b/c of the Launch Control on the PDK + the rear engine, rear wheel drive configuration has always been conducive to good traction for quick launches. Also, light weight + grip are bigger differences at lower speeds but as the speeds rise, acceleration is much more dependent on horsepower, gearing and aerodynamics. I'd fully expect the GT-R to come back and over take the 911 S by the end of a quarter mile.
No!!! Its not ridiculous. I got the info from Edmunds(which I know can be conservative at times, but probably the same kind of #'s most drivers will see). They tested both of the 2008 911's. You're talking about the 2009's, and estimating it do such and such #, which is speculating/estimating, and that IS completely ridiculous.
From an earlier post:
Why don't you take your own advice and wait until a 2009 911 S with PDK is tested? Or a 2009 Cayman S with PDK and 320 HP is tested... it will out-perform the 370Z and net a 0-60 in the mid 4s. It's simple science and basic math.
So then the Cayman will be on point with MT's test of 4.7!!!
It still remains to be seen how they match on the track. As long as the Z is close to the current Cayman, I do not care about the 320hp one. There will ALWAYS be a someone badder. And, let's face it... Porsche WAS NOT going to let themselves be bested twice by Nissan, GT-R AND 370Z....
At least Porsche showed their cards before the Nismo....now Nissan can make the Nismo fight the 320 HP Cayman S. Just give the Nismo 345 to 350 HP and it should be able to trade blows with it.

On the real the $49,000 Cayman can't run with the 06-08 350Z, the $57-$60k Cayaman S is a stronger Car, so the $30k-$40k 370Z running a 10th of a second slower then a Cayman S is not bad at all. As always the the Z beats the $40-$45k Boxster 0-60 but the real test would be if the new Z can compare with the Boxsters track time or handling, the Boxster was said to be better then the Cayman and 911 Carrea handling, in one C&D testing of the
10 best Sports Car. Incidently the 350Z came in 9th behind the SL380 Mecedes Benz, not bad for a $33k but not as good as the $35k Honda S2000 that among all these expensive Sports car the drivers stated it had the best 6 spd MT!!! I wish the 350-370Z could say the same. By the way the Honda S2K took 6 r 7th Place. The C6 and Porsche Boxster took 1st and 2nd then the 911, Viper and so on.
by the way the Rx-8 was not mentioned, I wonder why? Not trying to start any mess, but...
As it stands it has classic sport car proportions now and I am a big fan of that
Nissan did a great job in keeping it cheap, going higher in materials and making the sport package so affordable...I wish it had a TT option but maybe in a few years we may just get lucky
