Default Any Reviews of the 7 Speed Auto?

I know it's still early but wasn't sure if there has been any reviews of the 7 speed 370z yet? I am curious to see whether 0-60 time will be lower with the 7 speed auto.

Thanks!

Well the 7AT is faster than the 6MT (to a certain point) in the G37 sedan, so i would assume the same for the Z. 0-60 is not really what this car is about though.

I agree 100%. I am just curious if the new auto offers some advantages from before in terms of performance. Thanks!

I'm wondering about the same exact thing.

The 7AT has an advantage in the 1st & 2nd gear. But not much afterward and the eventually the 6MT's last 3 gears end up being more aggresive. (Just look at the gears along with final drives of each).

How 'bout on the mileage department? A couple extra MPGs wouldn't hurt at all.

Same MPG. But barring traction issues, 0-60 should be quicker.

What about weight? Doesn't the 7AT weigh more than the 6MT?

A friend of mine drove the new FX35 w/7AT. He liked in in auto mode, but there was much more shifting involved as opposed to the old 5AT. Like, by the time you're going 40 mph, you're in 3rd already. That said, I am VERY curious to try one...

I drove the 09 FX50 with 7 speed and I was impressed. Obviously not a DSG but it felt almost as quick.

Yes i believe it weighs about 40lbs more. But the auto will be just as fast or faster than a 6 speed in a straight line.

This does not matter. The G37 has the EXACT same gearing ratios between 7AT and MT, and we see the results there. The 7AT is faster in a straight line.

Again, the Z is much more than 0-60 or 1/4 mile times. I am hearing very positive comments about the 7AT. I can't wait to test drive it!!

Are you saying that the 7AT has the same gear ratios and FD as the 6MT on the G37? If so, that's definately not true. Like I said before, the 7AT has an advantage off of the line. Other than that, its not faster than the 6MT.

The G37 & 370Z have the same exact gearing for their trannys.

If shift times are a concern, the 5AT shifts at the same speed.

I like how the 370Z is equipped with paddle shifters for the 7AT

I am saying the 370Z AT and MT have the exact same gear ratios, just as the G37 AT and MT have the exact same gear ratios. The MT is not more agressively geared and will probally suffer the same fate as the MT G37 when compared to the AT G37. I am not talking final drive, only rowing through the gears for acceleration concerns.

The MT will be revving higher in its final gear than the AT, but that does not mean it will be faster... The 7AT will be faster.

If someone knows how to shift the paddles the right way you will be faster than a 6 speed.
