Default Test drove my first 370Z!!

Buddy works at a local dealership and called me up. So I went on in. They had the blue and silver one. I stayed there for 2 hours, staring at the car from every angle trying to let it soak in. Got it with 25 miles on it, returned it with 45 miles. Here are my impressions.

1. Exterior. both colors suck, but it looked worse in the silver. In person the tailights look good, the headlights I liked better in pics. The car looks shorter, wider and.....TALLER, it has an amazing side profile. Looks awards as hell in the rear, and the front bumper just sucks. Fenders are soo big that its going to need 21 R 20 F setup to fill them.
6.5 (current Z gets a 8.8 in my books)

2. Interior. I LOOOOOOVE it. Real metal, real leather, push button start. No annoying road noise, ride is like my Acura TL more so than my Z.
10+++
3. Driving impressions. Car is quiet and subdued when driving around town. The clutch is like marshmallow, tranny is making a clunking sound when shifting into 2nd and 3rd. It is like a chatter maybe the pressure plate fork??
Car has nice low end and the top end it noticably pulls stronger up top.
7 (it just doesnt excite me, I enjoyed leaving the dealership more in my Z33)

Overall, I am extremely un impressed with the 370Z. It is not noticably quicker at all, looks akward and I spent 2 hours staring at it at every angle. I hope the red or white looks better. Unless they make a better front and rear bumper, and it looks good lowered with wheels, and responds amazing to bolt ons there will NOT be one in my driveway, Even if it was the same price as a current 350Z. I will be keeping mine and turbo'n it for sure now. Just wish I had the dash and door panels from the 370Z in my 350Z.

haha^ Whats wrong man. I took 2 hours of my time to go buy one, and I didnt. What can I say but it was lackluster. Sorry to burst your bubble. Go out and drive one and tell me what you think. I am a 3 year Z owner so I like the Z and I like sports cars so this was hopefully going to be a good review, but the car did nothing for me.

Good to hear, lol @ staring at it for 2 hours trying to let it soak in. Did you notice the difference of the interior space between the z34 and z33?

I cant wait till more and more people test drive the 370 and EVERY SINGLE ONE of them is going to make a thread like this, just watch. Theres already WAY too many personal opinion threads as it is.

WEll i didnt see alot of personal test drive threads so I thought I would chime in.

Interior room is the same, higher roofline so more headroom, which I dont like. I like my roof to be as low as possible. Yes there is more room in the hatch because the strut bar is gone but it is much more shallow. so tall items wont fit, like a gallon of milk towards teh back of the hatch.

I'd sure love to see what people spending the same money would buy rather than a 370z. Are there better cars out there? Of course there are... oh snap, they cost a ton more too.

Wait, rumor has it you can buy a cheap Vette since GM is going to hell in a hand basket. I hear buying a GM product is smart these days too. Oh... wait...

What was wrong with the color silver? They seem really photogenic so far.

I do agree in that you are prob better off keeping your 350z given the current trade-in value (I am seeing some earlier models in the low teens) and how the new z really doesn't look that much diff or perform THAT much better than 370z.

It's as smart as buying a 1st (and 2nd and 3rd and 4th and 5th and 6th) year Nissan. Seems like they had issues with tire feathering, oil consumption, **** *** transmissions on both the Z and GTR, etc.

Also, it's not a rumor about the Vette. It's been substantiated with various links if you cared to check them out in the other thread. You would be able to get a 2009 C6 1LT 6MT Z51 NPP for under $40,000 which is about the same price that a 370z w/ Sports and Touring package would go for. The latest C6 is very trouble free with a strengthened and improved gearbox, LS3 engine, and revised steering over the pre08 models.

I agree with yousoslo except I personally think the 370z looks amazing in person. I wasn't that impressed with the increased power or interior trim. I mean the interior is better than the 350z (which isn't saying much) but just doesn't look like a $40k interior in my opinion. I was amazed to see that Performance Nissan in Duarte, CA had a $10k mark up which in this car buying market is hilarious. Overall I like the upgrades that were made, but they are not worth trading in my 06z. Hopefully future models will have more power and refinement. That's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

I know it's not a rumor, that was called sarcasm.

Doesn't change what I said about GM being as trustworthy as the GT-R's launch control system... works for awhile and then... whoop..... something's broken.

GM is in turmoil because their product sucks. Last time I checked... umm... the Vette is still a GM.

They look great, and that's so important in how good a car is built. (giggle giggle lawl)

Don't you read reviews before making a big purchase?

I went to my dealer and test drove one today. It is AMAZING looking in person! And i LOVE the interior. The car is noticeably faster than the old Z and the rev match is definitley pretty cool. I can't wait to get a blue one! Sorry for the lame review but ya'll already know everything there is to know.
BTW my dealer had a $1200 dollar limited availability markup...

I like the fact the roof is higher, means I won't keep hitting my head when wearing a helmet!
