Another 370z test drive/review
Went and checked out the 370z today at Buena Park Nissan..
They had a ******* 9995$ mark-up!!!!
Ending price was 53K!!! For a freaken Z!!! LOL
I checked out the '08 Z's parked next to the 370z and IMO.. 350z = class, 370z = boy racer.. even my gf and my friend who knows very little about cars said the same thing.
Honestly, 370z is nice as hell, interior-wise, and it does look like an upgrade, but if you threw on a Honda badge and the 350z continued, it would still be fair competition IMO, and nobody would say one's an upgrade of the other.
Either way.. 370z.. the more I stared at it the more out of place it seemed. To me, there's way too much going on. Some parts of the car have some nice round edges, and some other parts have really sharp angles and overall it doesn't seem to come together in union too well.. however, with about ~10k I think it could look amazing, but what car past 27k can't with 10k of aftermarket haha
Speed-wise.. where to begin here. First off, I test drove the Mustang GT and the 335i RIGHT before the 370z and the 370z pulled hardest IMO. however, in the GT and the 335i, there were 4 people in the car including me. As far as corners go, I'm not a big expert on that but the car gripped the road pretty good and the salesman was going nucking futs next to me but I didn't care ahah.
More I think about it, the 335i pulled VERY similarly to the 370z, except the 335 had more people in it. 1st and 2nd were quite clunky and it really seemed to pull in 3rd. As far as engine noise goes, the 370z is very very quiet, I guess they're targeting an older crowd b/c as a salesman myself, older people LOVE quiet cars like Toyota's.
Conclusion: if you want to get an upgrade from a 350z it is not worth it at all to take a hit and trade in for a 370z.. go get a 335i instead, the one I drove was like 48k!! as opposed to the 53k Nissan!! And the BMW has a wayyyy bigger profit margin then the Z so you could haggle like hell. If you don't like beamers, keep the 350z IMO and turbo/supercharge it, way more worth it imo.. I guess coming INTO the Z from a whole diff car the 370z will be worth it.. but 350z -> 370z = waste of money IMO..

good review man, its unfortunate to hear negative reviews like this. Just when i thought, maybe, just maybe, the 370 was the car it was hyped up to be, you bring it back down to ground level and i realize its just another car.
370z is like that hot chick that you pick up at a strip club, when you take her home, she does not put out.
When people get over excited about something or get teased a lot, when they finally get it, they do not like it, this is probably one of those cases..

Thanks for the review man! I will have to test drive the 370Z for myself as well. I was also thinking about trading in my 350, but then again why should i spend more on a new 370Z when I can spend $5K upgrade supercharger for my 350Z
.
BTW $50K for a Z is ridiculous even if it is the touring model with action package.

first off i dont think nissan did the Z justice with the styling cues.. and i wouldnt call the exterior an upgrade but the inside is definately a lot nicer....from what iv seen..but i think the biggest thing is everyone is expecting a lot out of the new Z and nissan just didnt give it to us after 5 years of the current Z..

The only thing I like about the 370Z so far is the 240Z design rear quarter window and interior. But I have to drive it and see it in person. The headlights and taillights have grown on me.
I just talked to a girlfriend of mine, and she says the 350Z is classier/sexy looking and that the 370Z has too much going on. Interior she also liked the 350Z's better because it was simple, the 370Z she said has too much going on and looks cramped.
I have always got compliments on my 350Z from girls, not sure how the 370Z will be. It's like when the 350Z first came out it was a real head turner and everyone was like what the hell is that? Now, people will see the 370Z and will probably be a head turner but in a different way...
Remember the photos they use to have at the nissanusa website of the 03 Nissan 350Z? Where it showed bits and pieces of the Z and people staring at it from the reflection of the window. Or the commercials and how it would do the same thing. I believe there was some black and white commercial where it made people go wow thats one hell of a car.

$53k???? Imagine the cost to actually own this thing, if you finance it. Every 370z fanboy kept saying how this car costs the same as the 350z, but better in every dept. Every review had the car with a significant mark-up.
I went to the LA auto show.. and honestly I thought the Z looked amazing there..
When I went to the dealership and kept staring and staring at it parked next to a beautiful '08 black Z and red Z it look reaallly out of place. The more I looked the more I didn't like it.
I went to the back and also saw a CS 370z parked next to a bunch of other cars; it stood out but there was no "wow" factor.
I still remember when the 350z FIRST came out.. the gf said when she first saw it that it was a beautiful car. She talked about how there would be crowds of people asking 350z owners at gas station how the car was etc.. with the 370z it'll just be a mere "oh the new Z" and that's it. No wow-factor
When I saw the 350z.. it was love at first sight.. seeing the 370z.. dunno.
one good thing. if I NEVER owned the Z, the 370z would be a fantastic car to get into!

I was eating at Sonic and this dude on his bike came up to me and said, "I'd have to say this is the sexiest car".
I was leaving Taco Hell once and these chicks stared at my car and one of them put her hands on her chest as if she fell in love

Overall 350Z gets a lot of compliments anywhere I go
I bought my 06 Track Z there (Buena Park Nissan) and dealt with the sales manager.....I called him when I was on the way down from Palm Desert....after calling I think 21 different Nissan dealerships I finally found the only Magnetic Black track model Z around ( the other was somewhere in NorCal) anyway I called him and he confirmed the other was at their Huntington Beach sister store....I offered him 500 over invoice --- I tend to feel 500 over is a fair deal --- and he said he would have the car ready to go
I arrived an hour later, car had arrived from Huntington Beach and he held to his word and took my offer....now I probably could have haggled below invoice and into holdback territory but like i said...for me 500 over is a fair deal and he made the process painless....I was there about an hour or so
I have sold cars for quite a while and I work for autonation for the time being (Let me know if you need a Mercedes) and while the market is obviously upside down right now I would normally tell people to do some research, find their price and make an offer to a reputable dealership.
Lowball scumbags, half truth tellers and the like should not be bought from....right now everyone is desperate so I am having to do more research for my family members on what a "good deal" is considering the desperation of some makes
At this point most dealerships are LOSING money just to move a car...but obviously its hard for me to tell people to haggle when I myself prefer just to offer what I consider a fair price I have decided on
At this point I am hoping for cost or maybe slightly less than cost on a new Z in a month or two depending on trade value for my 06....but I am an employee and I dont know just how eager a dealerhip will be to offer that to regular customers
I still feel cost or a few hundred above is fair....so I dunno...people will probably tell you to have a bunch of dealerships bid against eachother till one of them offers you the lowest price....the truth is its just a matter of working with a dealership you plan on working with in the future and letting them work you a deal...
Of course when you have 60 of the same cars sitting on your lot your a little more willing to give them a way at a loss....vs one or two high demand Z's....BUT as most will tell you in a month or two after the hype is died down and the shipments are in and they are sitting on a bunch of them they will be willing to do whatever it takes
Just be reasonable....if you go in asking for 300mo with zero down youll probably get laughed out of the dealership...but I do remember S2000's going for 399mo (lease) lol ....so if you wait long enough Nissan may add some sweateners to make crazy low payments possible....hell 08 E Class models are being discounted 14000 off MSRP....but Mercedes is offering 12K to dealerships to make it happen
Some cars just dont have any incentives (low volume) aka like the C63 we sell...even an employee lease is like 900mo or so whereas an E Class in that price range is leasing for 570 or so....the incentives mercedes is offering dealerships are able to move more of the high volume stuff right now that otherwise would be sitting on the lot
If your working with someone you trust youll be able to believe them when they say they are all in....and if they let you walk...they are probably tellig the truth for once lol
