Here is a chop i did, had to level the cars for true comparison

OK, I drew a line horizontal from the bottom of the front tire of both cars and measured vertically from this horizontal line. They seem to be the same.

 

funny, i was working on the same thing. But you beat me to it! But measure it how I did. From a horizontal line from the bottom of the tires to the lower edge of the rocker panel. What do you get then? I mean, for the overall ride height?

 

Oh, there is one problem with the photo. You see that when the photo was taken they did not take it standing at the exact center between the two cars? They are standing more in front of the 370Z, in effect, making them closer to it, causing it to be slightly larger. Picky but true. But I think that is why it doesn't make sense.

damnit, i should have brought the level, and measuring tape with me before i shot the pics. : ) niceto see the thread getting so much attention though.

 

Man, that is all you had to do, just pull out the measuring tape. Look what you have caused.

 

lol no need, photoshop helps it really works side by side (front & back) because cars elevation is +-millimeter.

 

Rooflines are nearly identical, but the mirrors indicate a lower beltline, and bumpers indicate a lower stance/clearance for the 350Z.

Measured dimensions I understand but visually the 370Z looks much bigger in perso IMO. The 370Z definitely looks different from the 350 but better I think not. Just like those that thought the 300ZX was and is the best looking Z, I guarantee the 350Z folks will continue to think their 350Zs look better. Then there will be a whole new crop that think the 370Z is drop dead gorgeous. I commend Nissan for being able to make 3 cars that will elicit such emotion. Personally I love both my 350Z and would not trade either for the 370Z based on looks. Add performance to the equation (still remains to be seen AIMO) and I may have to sell my 03 track for a 370Z in a year or two.

 

Is the bumper height raised in the 370Z for some sort of regulations? From the side profile, the stance seems to be about the same to me.

 

Probably because they realized the car would scrape too much even with a stock suspension. Notice how large the new plastic scraper is now directly on the lip? The 350Zs had a stupid plastic scraper that was buried behind the lip which left it very susceptible to scrapes - case in point...my lip.

 

I like your 350z.
