Right now, we have a sample size of just 1, and we need more data from a larger sample size. For all I know, maybe I really did luck out and ended up with a factory ringer.
What did your car dyno when it was stock. I think what everyone really wants to know is exactly how much hp was gained with your mods and whether your car is within normal specs.

I never dyno'd this car while it was stock. Sharif explained this, and I explained this in the video. That's why both Sharif and I have been saying don't read too much into this, take it with a grain of salt, etc.

Reminds me of a Dead Stock Dodge SRT-4 I dyno'd when they first came out.

The ridiculous car made 252 HP at the wheels. I had dyno'd about 5 of them in stock trim previously and none came even close to that number.

Congrats to the owner of a Very Healthy 370z!

Enjoy it! I know I would

Looong time lurker, thinking about getting a 370. I have a question, did you break your car in or did you drive it like you stole it from day 1? I would be curious about how the driver of the white Z broke his car in as well?

I think you guys will continue to be surprised.. doesn't sound like a ringer to me. This motor is responding well to well designed modifications..

We've got plans in the works.. and I know others do. This will continue to be a highly modified platform, with continued successes..

HR nuthugger here :

Decent gains can be had with HR bolt-ons. I am running 296 whp and 260 wtq with no tune.

But I have to say all you guys getting hung up on HP have the Z all wrong. In particular, it's the increased handling that has me jumping HR ship to get a 370 - that and the syncroRev match. I don't think there's a significant increase in acceleration. Someone's gonna get a deal on my HR - resale has tanked

My stock HR baseline run:

My HR with Injen CAI, Stillen HFC and Bassani exhaust:

.... i think the ecu is totally different in the VHR???? b/c with the VVEL it eliminates the need for throttle body's and I know that has a big effect ( sensor wise ) on how the ecu operates...

That would be interesting though if you could just swap the heads on the HR to VHR heads w/ out also changing the blocks internals...

Does anyone know what compression the 370's are at???

please do not compare you Dynojet numbers to Sharif's Dyno Dynamics numbers. His Dyno Dynamics reads around 8 to 10% less then your typical Dynojet. your 26Xwhp dynojet numbers would have translated to 23X on his dyno.

That's not his point. His point is that he also saw substantial gains on a 350Z with basic mods. It doesn't matter if Dynojet numbers are off. What is important is how much he gained. He gained 30+hp. This fact is true, Dynojet or not!

^ I was about to say the same thing.. We're talking about number-ratio increases, not just numbers... I too want to jump to a Z34 for the handling factor too.

I tried to do the 'keep it below 4000 rpm' thing but really just couldn't. I ended up driving normal, which for me means that I usually shift at around 5000 rpm. I did make a point to not drive it hard until the 1200 miles were up though (i.e., no WOT to redline). I did take it up to redline during the test drive though, and I should also mention that it already had 20 miles on the odo when I bought it, so who knows how it was treated during those first 20. Finally, I don't know if this could be a factor at all, but as I work from home it took me quite a while to complete my break-in miles (about 2 months). Mike took a lot less time to complete his break-in cycle. And he was also more successful at not going above 4000 rpm (which is what the manual instructs). So in short, I wasn't as gentle with the rpms, but my break-in period lasted much longer. The other car was broken in more gently on the rpms, but completed the 1200 miles within a much shorter period of time.

no... if you read into it, its sounds as if the only reason he wants to migrate to the 370z is for the handling only. he fails to mention that the 370z has around 20 to 25whp on the vq35hr.

291 modded, great. We have HR's running over 310rwhp with bolt ons as well. What is your point? The HR loves mods. Get over your HR envy.

When you research the cars, you will see also. 10 rwhp was on one dyno between both cars, others showed up to 25rwhp gains between both cars. Either way the 350z is lighter, and the 350z has more tq.

Nissan misled everyone and this has been talked about on here. C&D actually weighed a BASE model production 370z and it was 3350 lb. That is heavier than my NISMO 350Z.
