370z production to be cut 66%
#41
The 370z is actually very fuel efficient for a sports car. My 08 Speed3 barely averaged 17mpg bone stock. My 09 STI hovered around 18mpg. My 370z sport, touring, 6spd is averaging 22mpg.
For all those of you who hate the 370z so much, why are you even here on this forum? I don't go visit forums where I have absolutely no interest but to bash the vehicle which the forum is dedicated to.
I can not stand the Toyota Yaris and hence I don't go visit that forum, let alone register to make comments on how much I hate the vehicle.

It all boils down to $$$. Besides, my '04 Touring Coupe's turned out to be a reliable beaZt. It'd be foolish to get rid of it. (Good comment Kailua).

I am still amazed that people buy a car thinking it will make them unique, it is simply silly. If you are are a fat, ugly, boring guy, buying a Z just makes you the same but driving a car that makes you think you are something else. Buy a car because you like it because if you are trying to impress others owning a 350Z or 370Z is almost as affordable as buying a mid-size 4 door sedan. Buying a Z that in a less popular color does not mean much either, it just means you bought an average price car in a color most people prefer not to own.
News bulletin; a "Z" car is a low price performance minded car (not exotic sports car). It never was an exotic so if you think you are driving something other than a car that most people can buy with decent credit & a middle class income you are wrong. Thinking otherwise is somewhat like thinking you own a 370Z because your civic has a loud exhaust.

Yeah, it cracks me up when guys think they own some kind of exotic engine when most of the Nissan line up from a Altima to a FX35 has the same motor. Dont get me wrong, I apprecite that Nissan built an affordable sports minded car & I own one but it is not a Lambo....

The upside is it makes a lot more sense to buy a 35K sports car then spend 100K+ for a sports car that will equally depreciate. The fact is for most people, spending that much on a car is flat out a stupid economic choice. Owning a 80K + sports car at the expense of making sound choices for investments & retirement plans is a choice I am sure most will regret when they get older and find they will work another 10-20 years due to childish choices.
The bottom line is 5 years from now all cars will depreciate & there will be newer/better options.

I am not bashing Z's, just guys that think they are somehow driving a limited production exotic sports car and that by owning a Z it somehow makes you special to others.

AMEN!
Its really a cheap car for what it is.
Hence the magazines calling it, "The Performance bargain of the year"
Operative word is Bargain

Actually, it's not the car. I hate to break it to all you 370 haters, but look at the sales figures for the last 6 months.
Date.....Sales........Prev Year...... % change
10/08....518..........1251.............-59
11/08....450..........1285.............-65
12/08....567..........1306.............-56
01/09....1280.........871..............+47
02/09....1452.........1092............+33
03/09....1652.........1308............+25
Sales of the 350 hadn't been above 1500 units since July 2007.
While sales of the remaining 350s and new 370s were good so far this year, Nissan recognizes that once the initial demand is satisified, the sales will drop. They need to average almost 2500 per month to sell 30K in a year, it's quite obvious they're never going to hit that mark this year. Common sense, good business practice, prudent planning, whatever you want to call it, dictates that the annual production be reduced.
The 370 will survive. The economy will turn around. They will sell a lot more. They're here to stay.
Stop hating the 370, it's the new model, they're part of the family. Get over it and learn to live with them. The same BS has happened with each of the previous generation of Zs. You girls aren't inventing anything new here.

here is the deal.
in early 2000 Porsche made this change to the headlights -
after every Porsche enthusiast expressed their dislike, the new model looks like this -
it's not hate for the new model, it a genuine dislike for current nissan design .
