Default Going to buy a 370Z w/ Sport tomorrow..tips?

Hello everyone!

I drove a 370Z today and loved it! And I'm a former Corvette owner. 370Z interior > GM plastic! Going to drive 50 miles south to buy a White 6 sp. w/ Sport Package tomorrow.

MSRP is 34,080 give or take.

I can pay in cash (LOL brag post), should I lowball?

I saw the thread about the 350Z owner that got a dealership to go down to $26k.

Good advice is greatly appreciated!

I plan to be one of the first guy with a heavily modded Z. My car budget was $60k (why are GT-Rs still in the 70's?), so the rest is going to mods.

Welcome. Its a public forum with lots of, oh, stretching the truth. Besides I have never seen a contract posted. Never.

Offer $30,672.

Remember that crappy Steven Seagal movie where DMX goes into the dealership with a gym bag full of 100's?

I'm going to do that but the bag's going to be full of 10's.

Oh, and I'm going to have an annoying fat black sidekick repeat everything I say just like in the scene.

$26k is like $2k below invoice. That's a serious loss on a car that's been sitting on the lot likely for no more than a week.

I know they were dumping overstock 2008's like crazy last month, but they aren't slitting their own wrists over 2009's just yet.

That dude could have purchased it for $26k, drove to CarMax and re-sold it for a profit.

Invoice on that should be something like 31-32k. I'm too lazy but you can go to cars.com and check it out. Build your own Z and see what invoice is. Right now these Z's are going of right about invoice. Shoot for that. That being said not all dealers are willing to work with that, so be prepared that your dealer may shoot your offer down. If so just find another dealer. In this day and age cash really has no bearing on price. Now and days dealers make a good amount of money off the financing of a car, so paying cash to them just means you are decreasing their profit. In my opinion I would negociate the best price before mentioning how you are going to pay for it. Then once you get them down to invoice accept the offer and pay cash for it.

And yes, you can get a 08 350z for cheap right now, but don't expect the same prices for a 370z. One the dealers here has an 08 Z going for 24k (base 6-speed) and a fully loaded vert for 30k.

I know cash doesn't get a better price, but it lets them know I'm not kicking tires.

My plan was to start at $2,000 below MSRP, but I will definitely start at invoice. Thanks.

LOL. Hulu pwns me. I'm going to fall asleep on test drive.

Note to South Floriduns: Stay away from Federal Hwy tomorrow from Noon-4 p.m.

EDIT: I was in Columbus last week! Did you see a Silver 135i Convertible tearing *** all over town racing every single car and at the Friday car meet? That was me. Are you a member of that 350Z club that was there?

Paying cash will not help the deal. Honestly, I think it's a silly move *Shrug*.

Make sure they show you the slip for invoice pricing. Offer $1k over that and stick to it. They are selling at that price with some persistence and patience.

PM'ed you what I know. I was only in Columbus for a little over a week. I was waiting to close a deal on a 135i Coupe, but the dealership that was supposed to ship it to Columbus wound up selling it to a local buyer.

I actually managed to get a 135i with the Sport Package down to $38.2k, a huge accomplishment (the cars go up to $45k with options). After driving a 370Z, I'm glad I didn't get the 135i. The 370Z is a better car by far.

Its funny you guys are saying cash doesnt mean anything. In THIS market banks are making it impossible to get financed, and deals are taking longer. Dealers are welcoming cash, b/c it is making the deals happen on the spot and faster. Yes you are right they make money on finance, but in this economy specifically, I have no doubt that having cash is going to help you get a better deal.

There's no financing offers on the 370Z this month. I'd be paying 5.9% at least. No sense in financing.

According to what I have been told from other dealerships, the 370Zs in South FL are not selling. I definitely have the advantage.

Good luck with the buy, you should easily get 2g's off of MSRP.

Sorry, I think it's hideous. I plan to swap the body panels, suspension, wheels and brakes with much better aftermarket parts anyway.
