I would say that about 75% of the parts on 370 are compatible with the 350. So I don't think the 370 will have that many issues.

I've had zero issues so far as well. Not many miles on the clock, though.

But they have compatible or very similar components. There is a guy that posted pics of the 370 on a lift and you can noticed that the underneath and the suspension components are very similar to the 350.

If Nissan learned their lesson with the 350 this car is going to be pretty reliable.

The VQ37VHR is a very different animal, though. Variable valve lift controls the power - the throttle bodies are wide open most of the time. The only thing the TB valves control is quick engine modulation for the traction control system. Apparently, if something goes wrong in the heads, they cannot be repaired - the whole head must be replaced. I hope they are reliable as you say.

There are reports and pictures of the paint cracking at the corner of the front bumper and the fender (where plastic meets metal). I have personally not seen this on both of the 370Z’s parked in my garage but a number of owners have reported this issue.

The rear hatch at times does not unlatch (pop up) completely at times and I have to press the button again. An intermittent issue and of course will not replicate at the dealer so when it becomes consistent they will be replacing the hatch dampers.

If tracking the car there’s the engine going into limp mode unless an oil cooler is installed and the cornering issue (going into limp mode) with less than a half tank of gas. Overall these issues are minor and can be corrected under warranty claims and installing an oil cooler. Granted the cornering issue on the track is little more complicated fix versus an off the shelf bolt on mod.

Other than the hatch and cracking paint it’s a very good first year production model.

Are these issues worse than the issues from previous years?....imo…no…...Not like with the 03-04 models with the tire feathering issue or the oil consumption on the 06 models with manual transmissions to the point of having the engine replaced. The windows not working or the infamous grease marks on the windows or the hatch hitting you in the head due to weak dampers.

So if the old saying goes - don't buy the first year model and if we count the 03 model as actually being 02.5 year model then every third year thereafter (05 & 08 models) were good models. Well that old saying was just broken with the first year model 09 370Z.

ZeeForce hit the nail on the head. The 2009 370Z is a safe buy. Just would add - Highest Ranked Premium Sports Car in Initial Quality - JD Power & Assoc.

Thanks for mentioning this. I have to press the realise twice. Thought I was doing something wrong.

Notice the rear hatch problem too...just gotta press the rear hatch button longer to be sure the hatch fully releases...

I got a problem with the door unlocking fully. Press unlock and sometimes the door is still locked even though I hear the solenoids unlocking the door... Cable is secure behind the panel too, so I think it maybe a problem with the door handle..

Rubber gasket on the driver side headlight is visible at an edge, and found a piece of dirt in the paint....
