Why Nissan, why.
Didn't in 2006 new rules mandated that automakers switch to the new SAE measuring protocol? So technically it wouldn't be fair to compare the 370Z's published torque numbers to the 03-05 350z's?
I think after 2006 a lot of automakers had to retest and publish revised SAE hp/tq ratings.
A lot of cars had to reprint their HP and torque ratings because with the new test method hp and torque ratings were decreased. So technically if the 370Z's were measured the same way as the 03-05 350Z's, it would probably be around 285ft lbs of torque would be my guess.

Yes, I did. I'm just trying to say that modding a 370Z is gonna be even MORE expensive than modding the 350. Greddy Twin Turbo kits without labor or anything for the 370Z are like..close to 10k!
Were they that expensive when the 350Z first came out?

retail price for the Greddy is about 8K.... the cheapest I seen it is about 6K.... it's about the same price for when the 18G kit first came out. I have a 08 Z so about all the parts and mod's engine wise are the same to the 370(headers, cats, intake, pulleys, clutch & flywheel, water-hose, radiator, etc)... to compare prices...370's exhaust systems are pricey(cat-back), along with the body kits and lip kits...
I own an 07 350z, and work as a sales consultant at a dealership here in Mass, so I drive the 370z on a daily basis. The handling on the 370z is a whole new level for sure. There is almost no body lean and it is super smooth. However, other than that, I prefer the feel of the 350z. I like the more notchy shifter, and the slightly more substantial feel. Plus, I don;t think the 3.7 sounds as good. Speed doesnt seem tooooo different.
I don't think you give the 370Z enough credit though it feels like a 350Z whie driving you can't deny the actual number 0-60 in 5.9 to 4.8. The 350Z does 0-60 in 5.9 - 5.6 mosts times if thsi was a Porsche you are talking about another $20k the difference in the boxster and standard 911. You didn't mention the better steering, handling and shifting. You did mention the better interior. I like the Roadster also espeically the 370Z Roadster. I think the 350Z top down is awesome but it looks a little ackward top up. Not so with pictures I've seen of the 370 Roadster.
Chevy Ccamaro is a good retro idea to compet against the Mustang, but these are still pony Cars not quite sports cars like the Z, S2000, Z4, Mx5, M3s and Porsches. M2C.
