Edmunds Inside Line article, 2009 Nissan 370Z Long-Term Test (2/25/2010), mentions a "fix" for the 370z in regards to road noise. This is a quote from the article- "Think we're just being whiny? We're not. The tire noise, apparently, comes from less-than-ideal cabin-air extractors, and a fix for the problem is in the pipeline. Future 370Z owners, you're welcome."
Will this "fix" be availible at no cost to existing 370z's or only applied to new production models?
Since they say "future 370Z owners..." that makes me think it will be fixed on future model years. Probably not retrofittable or if it is, you'd have to buy the parts and do it yourself. Unless it's a safety issue or reliability problem, they typically don't do retrofits.
No way to tell for sure until Nissan announces something.
So this is a fix for a problem that is not a problem? Yokohama ADVAN Sport Tire can be loud depending on road surface: asphalt, concrete. Sometimes the tires roar like a lion. Other times they are quiet as a mouse. Hardly a "problem."
hmm...so do u 370z owners think u have excessive road noise now?
I have a 370z, the noise is only an issue if you are looking for it.
It might be loud compared to sedans or other cars that weight 4,000 pounds with 500 pounds being sound dampening material.
Cabin-air-extractors are vents to the outside. They must be too "open" allowing sound to come directly back into the cabin. Baffles are probably being added.
ehhh, if the worst thing I'm complaining about is road noise I can live with it. If you get a good CBE you won't pay attention to anything other then the sound of our engine anyway. I will say this, the damn cats on the z34 really kill the sound, if you go HFC or hell even TP the sound quality is astounding.
I dont mind the sound while in the cabin, rocky roads aren't the best but i avoid those. Im looking to make my 370z sound a little better though. Any suggestions on mufflers or air intakes?
