Default Nismo vs. 40th Anniversary

I have been gone from these forums a LONG time, ever since I sold my 2002 350Z. So please give me some buffer if this topic has been done to death already. I had the 350Z and loved it but I knew I was going to have live cheap for several years and fortunately that time has now passed. I can splurge again and I want to get back into a Z car. I love the look and performance of the 370 so that is what I'm targeting. I will buy new so I look at the Nissan site and I see a Nismo and a 40th Anniversary Edition. Retail for both fully loaded is very close: Nismo 41340, 40th Anniversary 41115.

My question is this. What are the key differences between the 2? This will be my daily driver around town so it will not get too many miles. I'm thinking of keeping it long-term (the rest of my life). With that in mind which one will bring me the most satisfaction now and be a good investment later? I'm talking 20-30 years from now for the investment factor. Think 30K miles at at that point.

Any feedback is welcome.

Thanks,
Pluckyduck

I would say that the Nismo will hold a higher resale value but since you're planning on keeping forever, I guess that doesn't concern you. Personally I think the Nismo looks better.

Find out which has lower production. I think that will be most telling of the resale value at the end of your life.

How did you have a 2002 350z when they came out in 2003?

@Globalscan

My bad, it was a 2003 but I was on the pre-order list and got it around 10/02. After Motor Trend did their exclusive on it then I had to have it. Awesome car, even better after the mods.

I think they are both nice. Although, i was never a fan of the Nismo package for whatever reason on the 350. The 370 Nismo looks a little better, and will probably be worth more in terms of residual value in the long run, but to me, its worth less because i dont like it as much. Either way, its a win-win situation. They are both sweet and i wish i could afford a new one GOOD LUCK!

if I were to get a 350z to keep forever, it would probably be the nismo 350z. I don't like the nismo 370z.

They are completely different models.

I'm not sure what you're asking.

i would say the 40th 370z would have better resell value sense it probably going to be the only 370z with the power of the nismo. If the 40th had the same things as the nismo i would get it if not then the nismo hmm i think i just had bad grammar :/ oops

"My question is this. What are the key differences between the 2?"

In answer to your question - the differences are power and bodywork, minor interior enhacements. The 40th anniversary has special paint job and painted wheels, special badges noting the 40th anniversary. The NISMO has differnet front and rear bumpers and more power and dedcated interior with NISMO plaques. Which one will hold more value down the road - good question. In my opinion, it comes down to your decision, which one gets you off more?

@davidv

Things were headed that way but then the market tanked and that's why I had to live cheap for a couple of years.

Well, the 35th anniversary z came with special 35th anniversary rims for 2005. in 2006, those special rims came stock on ALL 350z's. lol So as long as Nissan doesn't do that again, the 40th edition might maintain some exclusivity. I think the Nismo will hold value better, but you can't get a Nismo with leather or NAV - lame.

I just traded my PPW 07 for the 40th, and I couldn't be happier. The color combo of the graphite and the wheels, along with the red interior make me weak in the knees! Nismo exhaust is waiting to be installed, maybe a drop. It's pretty close to OEM sex if you ask me.
