Nismo add-ons
I currently have an 03 touring fully loaded with nav with about 35K miles. I am looking to get either an 07 towards the end of it's model year or an 08 mid next year. I notice that Nissan now includes Nismo parts in it's car configurator. Has anyone ordered Nismo parts originally with their car and if so, how much did Nissan charge you for installation? What I would like to do is order basically the same car I already have but with Nismo exhaust and Nismo side sills, under spoiler, and rear spoiler. Just wondering how much Nissan might charge for all that and the paint job on the sills and spoilers. Plus by that time some decent after-market hoods should be out and I would get that installed and painted to match at the same time. Any feedback would be appreciated.

So do the Nismo parts come installed from Japan or does the dealership order them and paint/install them? If it's the dealer then I will insist on getting the stock parts back.

Depends entirely on the salesman you're working with and how well you can negotiate. I was able to get my CAI and catback for 10% off plus free installation, but I had worked that out at the time I ordered the car, and had them sign-off on it. Since you're considering a bodykit as well, that is a different game. Is the dealer's body shop that good? Do they have experience installing bodykits? Most dealers' shops aren't.
P.S: No the parts don't come installed from the factory. They are ordered separately by the parts dept from their regional warehouse.

This particular dealership does excellent work and has a top notch body shop so no worries there. Plus the dealer is a friend on mine so I'm sure I can work out a deal on the parts and installation. Thanks for all the feedback.
The dealer will paint and add NISMO parts sure.
But I have never found a bargain at the dealership. Never. The dealer gives you 50 percent off on a $800 rear spoiler. You get it for only $400. Not such a great bargain: it wholesales for $299.

eh well i bought my 06 base w/ nismo package for the EXACT same sticker price as the 06 base, its about negiotiating, and plus it was a year end sale so they discounted the NISMO Cat-Back exhaust, Intake, Shift ****, License plate cover, floor mats... etc... all of them being NISMO Parts/Accessories

On the upside, their time spent was not much since they knew what they were doing and there is a Nissan warranty with the upgrades because the Nissan dealership did the work.
With exhausts, the gains are not large. The sound of the exhaust system seems as important, or maybe more so, than any power considerations. The Nismo exhaust, although not reputed for being as "power producing" as other types, is known for yielding its gains across the entire powerband, whereas the Borla, for example, gives much of its additional power (an additional 2 h.p. on the Nismo) at the very top of the rev range.
Undoubtedly, Nismo stuff is more costly than its competitors but upgrading with Nismo would tend to add more value to the Nissan (since they are approved factory upgrades/options) and are designed specifically for that model, in my opinion.
The same point could be made about the Nismo suspension upgrades (shocks, springs and anti-sway bars). The ride height drops slightly less than other suspension upgrades and apparently does not require additional camber or alignment adjustments, while still producing worthwhile results.
There tend always to be exceptions to the rule:
I was advised by a reputable Nissan aftermarket vendor that they have experienced fitment issues with Nismo headers on a Z. Hopefully, this was a one-off situation... but it made me pause. At the moment, would like to install hi-flow cats but can't persuade myself to part with the huge difference between the price of Nismo versus a Crawford and wait three months.
Since there is a selection of decent aftermarket stuff that competes with Nismo at a much lower price, it ends up being a matter of personal choice whether or not to pay the extra dollars.
