everyone gets so excited. we went through this last time. they said the exact same thing before the current 370z launched. As has been said many times before simply look at the g37 coupe for the z to follow. the new g coupe will launch soon and will probably go g25/g37 or along those lines just like the sedan. there is nothing special about the infinitis nor z cars. Nissan will continue to share parts bins in the interest of making money not true luxury or sports cars.

I wonder if Nissan is giving up trying to keep up with the Mustang 5.0 and other sporty cars (STI, Evo). If they continue to share a platform with the G cars, I don't think a 2.5l turbo in the G chassis is enough to keep up with the big boys, unless they do it with gearing - a shorter final drive with a 7-8 speed auto transmission.
Don't get your hopes up. I'm with Scott though, a factory turbo car would be more fun to modify.

IMO Nissan should return to what they did with the Z32... offer both an NA and turbo version. Retain an NA version of the VQ37 with a modest bump to 350 horsepwer standard and offer a twin turbo version with about 425 horsepower. This would give it enough power to outperform the heavier V8 ponie cars, but not so much power that it would infringe on the GT-R.

Why are they looking at Scion/Toyota sales to compete? Toyota is an overrated brand that can build something as bland and shitty as the Camry, yet look at its sales. Is that appealing to me as a Z owner? Not at all.
So Nissan is lowering its standards to compete with a car in a lesser category? They'd be bowing to the Genesis Coupe, Mustangs, etc. to just drop out in order to compete with the FRS. Why not put a Z badge on the Cube, since we're aiming to compromise?
There is still so much technology that they aren't utilizing to get full potential from the VQ. There is no reason they can't get closer to 400 hp with a NA V6.

I agree. The return of the Silvia/240SX would be a more logical choice as a competitor to the BRZ and FR-S. At the Z's price point, it needs more horsepower and torque to be competitive against other performance cars in a similar price range (such as the V8 Camaro and Mustang).
