I'd like to see results too. I'm not "serious" per se. But, I was just annoyed at the arguments people hold on to.

I thought the GTR was 0-60 in 3.6 or something really quick in the 3's, beat the Z06, and the 997TT.
Your saying an M5 is quicker than those, hell i get one off ebay then if thats the case for 40k haha.

Post the video, everything ive seen i dont see how the M5 can come close.

uh ya, i said $40k, M5 for $40k I have been watching the 07's for the manual trans.

Its from a roll (both cars are moving) so the AWD that helps the GTR get those crazy times doesn't play in affect. I still think the GTR will be faster based off of the vids posted a couple spots above.

An e60 M5 for 40K, don't think so.

Oh and that GTR in the vids is not stock. If you check his other vids, he mentions his mods somewhere. It's been awhile, but I think he's stage 2 or somewhere thereabouts.

what makes the M5 so great? im asking serious question, not bashing the M5. I seem to be missing something
because kicking 99% of the cars out their asses with the ability to drive four people comfortably to the mall is just balling. its like losing a race to convertible, its not any worse than losing to a hardtop, but for some reason, its just degrading

Weight from a roll should not be considered. The only variables from a roll are power, gearing, and aero. The M5 has excellent aerodynamics allowing it to hit 204 mph GPS verified on multiple tests. The M5 has a 7spd transmission so it wins the gearing factor. The power to weight on both cars is even. The M5 revs higher. My vote is leaning more towards the GTR but not by much. I'm going to say by 1-2 cars if that and by 160 the M5 should be making up lossed ground.

Also an R8 has lost to an E92 M3. So comparing the M5 to the R8 and GTR to the R8 is pointless. It's highly underpowered.

Agreed, most audis are underpowered in relation to their class competitors, also off balance on the road course compared to FM chassis, and bmw. Thats why I sold mine. Going to see how fast i can shred up tires with a revup + vortech.

Agreed with mike "because kicking 99% of the cars out their asses with the ability to drive four people comfortably to the mall is just balling."
- its on the list of possible future money pits!

Im a huge GTR fan, but it will lose. the M5 is modded of course. but the gtr doesnt have the top end to catch up. AWD vs RWD. not sure how close the weight is of the two cars. if you have the time and money to throw in a exhaust and intake maybe downpipes. you will make a huge top end results against him. thats your only chance. let the turbos breath for the top end to make up for your drive train loss. thats where all your power is going up high. even from a dig, that M5 would catch back up real quick....stock for stock that M5 would barely beat it from a roll. from a dig, GTR end of story

just my 2 cents

Wow, the prices are lower than I thought. An '06 or even a '07 for around $50K would be a great buy.

I haven't followed up, but BMW no longer offers extended warranty or certifies the M models well at least the M5.. I believe you can get an aftermarket warranty, but I'd be weary of owning such a car with some mileage under it, without warranty.

2006 is smg only in the US, you dont want the SMG if you ever are in traffic or slow driving. Highway it rocks. Friend couldnt stand it, he sold the car after 3 months and bought an E63.

The GTR would win if its a 1 mile run....Yes the M5 would START to creep up but it would take more than a mile for the M5 to catch up.

why? My M5 is SMG and traffic is the reason i chose SMG..I can't imagine driving manual in bad traffic..=( personally, SMG serves me well and by far the best for me..I tried the DCT and it really kills me! So fast in shifting...
