Already happening. $10k under sticker on a premium last week.

Dude, get a set of ***** on your own, go to a dealership, and talk concrete dollars. If you are ready to buy one, dealers are more than willing to negotiate given the collective conditions. You have to remember that whatever they advertise as a price is STILL negotiable. This is Nissan dealerships we're talking about. Further negotiation is always possible.

I called for confirmation. The guy made an OFFER for $10k under sticker on a premium - which they accepted - but the deal also included a trade-in vehicle (so maybe there was further leeway in the trade-in amount). In either event, it seems dealers are trying to move old stock in preparation for the revised versions that are to follow.

Ah yes, the must have played with the trade. Nice way to get out of paying some of the sales tax in many states.

Twas a beautiful tactic when I lived in NJ, but alas, CA does not allow such a situation. No surprise there - we have high-dollar politicians to pay for!

are any dealers offering closed corse tests for potential buyers. I know GM is doing that with the ZR1 and lamborghini just did one with the new LP560 (missed that one)

Not sure what you mean. In California, we pay sales tax on the purchase price of a vehicle. So if the MSRP is $30,000 and we pay $26,000, the tax is on $26,000.. So even if a vehicle is selling at MSRP, the dealer could potentially give you a very high trade in on your vehicle and discount MSRP. Of course there is laws that prevent them from going way beyond reasonable.

I preferred the MIssouri way where you deducted the trade in value from the sales price and only paid taxes on that number.

That's what I thought you meant. That's how it is in NJ. . .

You know, there are a lot of tough guys on the internet. But since you dont know me from dirt, and you're just going off of the words you read to come to your own conclusion that I dont have any *****, I'll take it real slow with you and explain that I actually am in the market for a GT-R. I am willing to travel anywhere in the United States and I have already been to 6 dealerships..

Now, with that said I am NOT willing to get Raped for a new car. That is why in my post I asked for any fellow forum member who has solid knowledge of a GT-R for a reasonable price to post it (not just talk about it).

I certainly was not just sitting here in front of my computer without any *****..

Fair enough. What I meant is that you may not see GT-Rs being advertised at MSRP, and since that was what you were asking for, I continued on with my comment since I felt you can negotiate down to MSRP or better. Heck, our local stealership has one marked up $25k to $98,xxx, yet I just emailed the internet fleet guy and they were willing to go $2k over MSRP. That's before I even stepped foot in their showroom! Dealers won't get allotments of the next GT-R if they don't move their current stock, so getting one at MSRP or better, as two people I know have, is highly possible. They had to drive to get them since the local places had them marked up so much, but even our local 'ship in San Jose, as I said, was willing to take $2k over MSRP. Dealers still make a lot of $$ selling at MSRP. It's not like we're asking them to dip into their holdback! Now that would shock the dealers and take some *****!

MSRP (Premium): $79,090
Invoice (Premium): $74,434
Total holdback amount: $1489
Destination Charge: $1000
Total dealer price paid to manufacturer: $73,945

Offer to get someone's attention (without any trade-in implications): $73,445 ($500 into holdback).
