Default bargain sports no more. Edmunds 2k service

http://blogs.edmunds.com/roadtests/2...expensive.html

2000 for the 18000 mile maintenance... And that's with the discount. THAT IS INSANE?? I guess it is a supercar with a supercar price tag in disguise? I guess the corvette is my future instead of the beloved gtr.

How much does the maintenance of a porche or an audi rs4 cost???

I paid almost $500 for 1 year maintenance for my Cayenne - basically oil/filter change...

Its a bummer man. I love the GTR seriously!!! Yet, no car is worth it unless your a CEO living in a 10 million dollar house. I gotta retire (well not in the next 40 years, but still).

I'm curious... does BMW cost that much to maintain like the porche and all that? Currently I do all the maintenance and I probably spend about $150 or less...

If I could afford a 70k+ car... a 2k service would be normal.

bmw does free maintenance while the car is under original warranty.

I always thought that nissan's intention was to make an affordable sports car for the masses but I think with the maintenance cost, its not their intention.

I'm kinda tired of people whining and crying about "Omg, this part and/or this service costs this much! Outrageous!" Like this is a normal $20-40k car.

So if you had to pay $1k for maint on a Z you would be okay with that and chalk it up to normal fees? BS

I couldn't believe "6-quarts Mobil 1 Synthetic 0W40 @ 9.38/ea: $56.28", not to mention all that other crap, seriously over priced maint. FTL

+1 on BMW for free maint during warranty

I do my maintenance myself, but for regular interval maintenance, I wouldn't mind it. If I could comfortably afford the GTR, it wouldn't mean that much to me.

A 15k service on a new V8 Ferrari (348+) will cost LESS than HALF of the GT-R's 18k service.

If we would factor in maintenance for both these cars from the time they were new until 100k miles...I would bet the Ferrari would be ALOT more (as in not even close).

So, while the Ferrari might be cheaper at the 18k service I would say forget it on the rest.

I'm guessing here...I can't afford either one of these cars, if I do get one I'll let you know.

it's because you're doing it at a dealership. anythings expensive when you go to the dealership with a GTR. If you own a GTR you should be able to maintain it on your own.

This statement is grossly innacurate. I would elaborate, but my experience
with 430's, 360's and 355's is such that I need not.

I was going to say the same thing - a very close friend is a long time tech at a well established dealer in CT, so I know what the services go for - the quoted figure represents sales tax, not the service itself

Good! I'll just keep drooling over the GT-R, WHILE ENJOYING MY 'O4 Touring Coupe (just 21k on it, NO feathering!, NO oil-consumption issue!, NO starting problem!, FLAWLESS AT! Only a slight squeak on the breaks which causes no break performance problem!) Thanks for the post, dude!
