Just get in your vech , close all doors. Using your power lock switch , lock all doors. After doors are locked take your Ignition Key and insert it and remove it from ignition switch in a slow fashion , but consitant pace. (97 and earlyer are fast) When you see the hazzard lights flash, put key in ignition switch and turn to the On postion .. Do NOT CRANK or you will have to Start over .. After in the On postion .. Hit the Lock button on remote... Hazzard lights should flash..( note..you have to reprogram all remotes when adding a new one , if you don't your old remotes will not work ) If your doing just the one , turn igntion switch off and unlock door and get out and try it. If you are doing more than one. While still in Vech with Key on . After you hit the Lock button on Remote and hazzard light flashed .. with key still on .. use master lock switch unlock doors and relock and then hit Second Remote, Lights should flash again , repeat if adding a 3rd remote.. after done just turn key off and unlock door and get out and try. Good Luck

Insurance most likely has deductable higher than value of stolen keys.

+1 Amen to that. I'd recommend going to a locksmith but they charge almost the same as the dealership.

im pretty sure he's going to pay the deductable anyway since 'everything' got stolen from his house... and i think when he's saying re-keyed, he means having the locks and ignition chip stuff switched out since some tool has access to his car with the key and all

Pretty sure he said it was his spare keys that were nicked, but I could have read it wrong

As for the key's man that just sucks, but you do have several options. Dealer/Private Locksmith/Carmax/Doit yourself? Or just take a chance and only change the Fob Code and shave your door handles and locks so you have to have the Fob. The last is expensive, but the same thing happened to my friend and that was his excuse to add door poppers and shave the handles. Just a suggestion

Good luck

Cheers

So after reading your post i bought a $16 key fob from ebay and tried this process. Seriously thanks for this post it really works! Now I'll get my uncut key programmed/cut by nissan and voila, instant spare key set!

My house got broken into and they took a spare set of keys and my spare key fob too. One thing you have to remember is that it is easy to reprogram the fob and to get a new key made, but there is also someone else out there besides yourself that has a key to your car. This didn't allow me to sleep at night so i took the hit and went to the dealership and get a new lock set and new set of keys. i have an extra set of locks and a key to go with them.....let me know if your interested. I paid over $400 for a new set. If you decide to do this i can work something out with you...let me know....Sorry to hear about it, it does suck. All in all i thnk it cost around $800 for the new set of locks with labor and reprogramming the new keys...

a few FYI's

once prgram a FOB u have to do them all at same time, if not ur old ones wont work

....so the FOB that was stolen will not work on ur car anymore once u program a new one ...so feel good about that

contrary to popular belief u can get generic or oem Nissan uncut/unprogrammed transponder keys off eBay take it to the dealer get it cut & programmed for about $60 u just wont have the Nissan logo on it (if its a generic)

i buy a lot of salvage cars & do this all the time because they usually only come with one key
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

for the op whos keys were stolen:
auto insurance might cover this, because there is great potential for your car to get stolen now, so they might rather pay now, cuz it may be more expensive to pay later if ur car gets stolen & stripped!!

if insurance doesnt cover ur cost & u have to come "out of pocket"
u can get a used iginition with keys + ECU + the little security box from a junkyard (all these parts must be from the same car so transponder signals match)
have someone install them & ...wahla ..better than gettin raped at stealership!!

No problem I'm glad I could help. I've done it myself as well. I wouldve never posted it if I haven't made sure it worked myself.
