Default Scheduled Maintenance

Is everyone sticking to the scheduled maintenance service intervals?

Just curious because I got the first one at 7,500 miles, but missed the 15K mile service. I now have 19,900 miles on my ZR, so I'm not sure if I should wait and get the next service done or go ahead and get the 15K service done anyway.

Nissan's site posts this disclaimer which worries me a bit...

Failure to perform scheduled maintenance may result in reduced vehicle performance or possible breakdowns, as well as exclusion from warranty coverage.

i think Nissan says the first one is to be done at 7,500 or 6-months. At 6-months I only had about 5,000 miles so I just waited until it hit 7,500.

what is the chance that they can void our warranty if they don't get to charge us $200 for those 7,500 mile checkup to change the oil and lube the joints. how concerned should we be?

Tune ups dont worry me that much... just make sure you change your oil every 3000 miles tho.... if you dont then that will void your warrenty...

That said, I would probably go ahead and get the tune ups even tho your past the recommended mileage. Better safe then sorry... especialy during warrenty period.... after the warrenty runs out then its up do you...

First - In order to deny the Warranty, they would actually have to prove a direct correlation between the problem the car developed and the fact you neglected to have the scheduled maintenance done. Very rare this would happen.

Second - If you take the car to a mechanic other than the dealer and keep the receipt that shows the scheduled maintenance was performed, they CANNOT void the warranty. There is nothing in the warranty that says you have to take the car to a "Nissan Dealer's service department for any type of service.

Good point...taking the car to another mechanic. Although, I don't know any shops in my area that I'd trust with my Z. Most of the local shops have done more harm than good when working on my previous cars.

I took my ZR in today and paid the $183 for the 15K mile service. I skipped the tire balancing since I just replaced my front and rear tires 2 months ago. Otherwise, the price would have been $54 more.
