Default top won't drop below 32 degrees

My nephews, 9 and 12, were in town over the holidays and wanted to take a ride with crazy Uncle L with the top down.
Hey, nephews that think your half nuts don't come along every day. I'll entertain this. Well, it was 17 degrees out and the top would just not settle all the way down. It wouldn't even re-latch without help. Tried it the next day, 27 degrees and not snowing, but to no avail.
So, my question is, has anyone else had this cold weather problem?
