Here's a short bit that proves you are exactly right...I go visit my folks in Century Village just abvout daily......Been in and out of that same gate for over a year with my Z.......I always thought it was my charm and charisma that shot me right in the gate....Well, last week I pull up and this guy is a reg at the gate...I tell him I left my wallet and Driver's Lic at home....He says, "Well it's a real good thing that I recognize that car, or you would'nt be getting in".....,..Talk about a slap of REALITY...... p.s. Even the un-armed gate security guards have a attitude of , "I'm authority, and you had better do what I command.....HaHaHaHa.....I asked him how long till he gets the shiny gold colored badge for the tin one has got on now?......I don't think he is real fond of me, but now he will know ME, AND the car......Dave

I've gotten all kinds of attention, conversation, waves, stares also... maybe because where I live...Not too many Z's at all & especially SB ZR's.
I removed the front badge & replaced it with the "Z" and shaved the Nissan badge off the rear and replaced the wheel inserts with the Z logo plus other changes & that might be another reason why a lot of people still trying to figure out what kind of car this is. In parking lots people walking around the car, trying to figure out what it's called.
I still remember the first time I pulled into my local gas station the owner-manager comes out...walks around the car and says "Z ....350Z...looks at my rear plates it says Nifty Z....finally..."wow, what a beautiful car....OK, what is it"?

"...This is not a car to drive if you want to be inconspicuous!"

How right you are. My friends keep telling me they saw me in such and such place in such and such day.

This friend I have not talked to for 3 years called me up to ask if I bought a convertable, because he saw me on the freeway.

My wife and I were leaving a restaurant Saturday afternoon, walking behind a family. The little boy pointed at the ZR exclaiming "Daddy, what kind of car is THAT?"

The other thing is that people assume the ZR is a lot more expensive than it is. When I showed up with one in the parking lot there were a lot of people at work trying to figure out who bought the new 50-60K car. When the found out it was one of the junior people (me) a lot of rumors started floating about family money and crap.

I'm 30, married and a doctor. Why would you talk about family money? I really think they assumed it was a 60K plus supercar.

People want to know what your color $hit is! I just don't understand why they like to know everyone's business/status?

Seriously this car looks 60k. A friend of mine bought an 05 G35 coupe for $39k (mark up or so he says) and my Z roadster is also $39k... and the Z roadster just looks, feels and seems to worth so much more.

It seems that the older male drivers look at the roadster compared to a nice looking 20-30 year old women. I work for University Maryland on campus and drive around and believe me it attracts the young honeys!

Okay.....so has anyone owned a car that has attracted more attention than their ZR? I haven't.

Cars owned:

1983 Mustang GT. For a short time period, this was the fastest production American car. Got lots of attention from corvette owners

1988 Honda Prelude. Lots of attentions from women. Perfect for that time in my life!

1993 Honda Prelude VTEC. The first true Full "VTEC" production vehicle. VTEC badge got lots of attention.

2000 Audi S4. Definite head turner in Nogaro Blue, but still a bit of a sleeper being a 4-door sedan

2004 ZR: this car IS automotive sex appeal. Maximal head turning factor from anyone and everyone, all the time.

Sorry, but the design is classic and timeless! If it was so long in the tooth, I wouldn't be still getting the looks I get in it. To each his/her own Not putting the ZR down, it defintely has good looks!

Ya but you have the revised one with updated exterior... the earlier ones 1991-1995 are looking dated. Although they are still cool, just not something I would want to buy.... now if I could buy a new NSX, I wouldnt hesitate.. Actually I guess if I sold both my cars I could.. Hmm might have to think about this one

Thumbs up the Z gets noticed !

I just relocted here in Maryland and yesterday I went to Annapolis for the first time and I had the top down at first. When I put the top down there were 10 people waiting for me to get out of the my car to ask me about the Z.

My old truck may have gotten more looks, but that was probably because people were afraid I'd run over them. It was a 96 tahoe with 9 inches of lift, 36"x14.5" tires, a huge bumper thumper and a whipple twin screw SC that breathed out of a single 4 inch custom exhaust. It was far and away one of the most obnoxious vehicles in the history of mankind (god I miss it).

This friend rode with me, it's his 1st time in a convertable. He said he feels naked driving with the top down. "Actully, it's worse than that, everybody is looking."
