Is the DTE computer accurate?
I am working on my second tank of gas with my new ZR. I was wondering how accurate the Distance To Empty computer is. I am not concerned too much right now but it would be nice to know if one can trust it.

When the light comes, get gas. Simple enough. Don't run it all the way down. I'm not sure about my Z but my 2001 Maxima had the fuel pump inside the tank. The fuel is supposed to help keep the pump cool. I had one in the Maxima die on me because I used ride on the fumes.

I think pretty much all new cars are designed so that the "empty" light or DTE warning come on when there is approximately 3 gallons still in the tank. It is best not to go to "E", but even if you do, you have a buffer, for sure. You can figure out real easy by taking it to "E" once and refilling. You'll see that you add about 3 gallons shy of the capacity which indicates you still had some fuel in there.
