Default Need roadster help!

Hey everyone,

My name is Jason and I am kinda new to the boards. I have had an 03' 350z for a couple months now and I have really enjoyed it. I got it in an automatic and its been fun, but now im really craving the stick shift, and with the warmer weather, im craving a roadster!

Well I went down to the dealership with my father and this is what we got them down to.

The car I'm looking at is a leftover 04' roadster 6 spd which stickers for 37k, so its a basic touring roadster with 6 spd.

There telling me their invoice is $34,561 the discount from their invoice is gunna be 3k, so we end up at $31, 561. Then I want to trade my 03' touring fully loaded, with 27k miles for 21k, but there only giving me 19k...

Whats your guys' take on it? Should I push for the 21k on my car?

And any experiences you could share with a new roadster hopeful would be great! I am so excited to work a deal on this car, I'm praying the numbers work out!

Thanks

I would say sell the Z off yourself first then get the roadster. People usually get owned on the trade in. The price for the roadster seems pretty good, $31,561 for a roadster is an amazing price.

Never negotiate a trade when trying to buy a car-your Dad should have known that. Regardless, negotiate the car price alone and tell them you don't have a trade in. They'll buy that car from you for 19 and put it on the lot two days later for 23. Sell it yourself then go make your deal. Nice price on the roadster btw

I know if the feeling, I traded in my 03 DB Touring for an 04 SB Roadster. They got my 03 for $26,000 but it had 7,600 miles. They will not get it for $21,000, the most that they will do is $500 or they reduce the leftover 04 by a couple of hundred dollars. I lost on my trade-in just did not want to deal with advertising and showing people. If you are not in a rush I would sell it, but if you are than trade it in and take the lost.

Well the deal is already done, and there is a reason i didn't want to sell the car privately.

Thanks everyone!

Well the guy who sold it to me said it was a no-accident car. But when I had it fixed for a fender bender, the people at the shop told me it was in an accident and that the way it was originally fixed was just so so.

So if I sell it to Nissan, I know they can make everything done right. I don't wanna screw nobody if I sell thru private sale.

Anyway I picked up my new roadster today... too bad its cold and raining!!!! But I love it! Thanks for the advice guys! Ill have pics up ASAP!
