Default Ground Your ZR engine. OMG what a Difference!

Had me z-exteme ground kit installed today by Speedwurks in Diamond Bar, Ca. Whoaa. . . UNFkingReal, unreal and smooth exceleration to redline without bad vibes, etc. I am amazed at the difference, noticed it at idle before first gear. Question? Why doesn't Nissan or any other car mfr ground their engines? This is the cheapest mod and most dramatic. Unreal, imagine a smooth excel to redline or back without bad vibes. Amazing and a MUST for any sports car owner. Grinning without the bad vibes and shake. . . :-)

I'm glad you feel it made a difference for you. For me, the car was the same before and after... it was running fine before, it is running fine now. I could not notice any difference with my kit (maxground kit).

I have the maxground kit on my ZR. Looks pretty. ZBoater-the reason you didn't feel any difference is because you installed the wrong color wires. The silver wires add more hp than the red ones. hehe.

What if I try to match the wires to my exterior? Does that make a difference?

I feel like giving it a try and see what my G-Tech says...

Netko350Z--As Johnny Depp said to Marlon Brando: "I am very disappointed in you, Don Octavio". Matching the wire color to the exterior color creates even MORE EMI. Thus your performance will deteriorate..unless, of course, you ground the conocualtor valve to the kniflin pin, in which case your G-Tech will be pleased.

Yea but the cross refrence on the 3pka circuit with a cross refrence with the ohm rating on the front generator creates an EMI on the lower back circuit fuse. If you jump the red wire with a 3.8472113243 NOT the 3.8472113244 rectifier you get a lower EMI.

Actually I have no idea what the hell I just said....BLAWWWWAAAA HAAAAA HAAAA!!!

Default Grouding Your Engine.

What counts is the ECU noise, etc. has been bypassed and my Z is smooth to 6800 rpm. Before grounding at 4500 plus the engine went rough, you could feel the rattle. Now when I let it rip, the ZR sounds and feels like a Lambo or Porsche and sound in higher pitch, not the 4500+ rpm whaaaa, more zrrrr.. Believe it or don't, why should I care? Now running 5000-6500 rpm without knowing I am up in rpm's and hitting Redline without a warning siren. Don't ground your Z. Enjoy the ramble at high rpm's.

I really don't understand if there are real gains from ground wire, why didn't car manufacturers throw this $2 part in.

Default Grounding

Because they are selling to comuters who don't know the difference. The grounding looks like Nissan failed to properly ground their engine or the ECU is faulty. Maybe it a liability issue? Does the average Z buyer care about true performance? Most are posers.

Car was great before ground, unreal, just smooth with more power after ground. There are two ways to ground and I am no expert. The way my car was ground was different from the install kit instructions from Z-extreme. I had pro's do the job. When I started the car at idle I could hear and feel the difference. When I drove away I was blown away by the smooth steady power. I have a 2005 ZR GT. and maybe this car needs grounding due to ECU settings more than other models, I have no idea. All I know is it is the best $75 I have spent on this car. Just warming up at 2900 miles on the odo and hitting redline cutoff without any extra rattle etc.

No offense ever intended--just having a little fun, mostly @ my buddy ZBoater's expense. If you believe this mod made the improvements you felt, I'm happy for you. I wish the wires had done the same for my car. REAL Dyno is more persuasive than butt dyno. As far as I'm concerned, it's an expensive piece of underhood jewelry that adds nothing but looks. I installed it, too. Look at the posts from ZBoater and other experienced modders--I agree. I wish I'd saved the $125 to apply to a mod that prouduces real, measurable results-headers and high flo cats, for example.

I'm pretty much done on this topic. IMO the whole thing is a goof. I looked @ CourtesyNissan's webpage and links before I purchased the kit. That's where I bought it. Also saw the dyno links. Just didn't see the results on my ZR. If you're happy, I'm happy for you. AMF.

zstockbroker, there are too many of us here that have installed grounding kits with no performance results. its wasnt even h,p, gains i was looking for back when i purchased & installed mine. do to the mods i have installed my idle is slightly rough. nothing drastic just enough to bother me every now & then. i was hoping the grounding kit would smooth this out but it didnt....
if you truely can say that your grounding kit is installed differently & this is why it made a difference then please find out in what way it is installed differently. ask the professionals that installed your kit to tell you where thier installation differs from the rest of ours.
spreading ground wires throughout the z's engine bay area is really no secret. unless these "professional" grounding kit installers know some special grounding point location that really makes a difference or they actually run a new ground wire to the ECU location i cant see any difference being made. could you find out what your installer may be doing differently to make such a difference? a few of us here would greatly appreciate it. since you spent the money to have it installed im sure they would be willing to share any "special techniques" they use or possibly additional grounding wire to the ECU.........
