Strange object in my trunk?
Ok, so I just removed all the foam, and plastic and carpet from my trunk to prepare for my stereo install. When I took out the piece of foam that holds the jack I noticed something odd. It appears to be a large (6x6x6) cube of metal on some sort of axle? It's in the rear right corner and is on a metal bracket. I can's for the life of me figure out what it could be for. My best guess would be some sort of crash sensor maybe? Anyone know what it is? I'm very interested in what it is.

Take a pic!
It's under the foam piece that holds the jack. It's sort of tricky to get out...and even worse to get back in.

Yep just took a look at it. No clue. It only looks like it is on one side of the car not the other.
Hmmmm....It isn't connected to any wires....maybe it has something to do with stability of the car? Like a counter balance? Other side I can feel something like heat sinks on something.
Isn't there a piece of led in the front of the car only on the roadsters?
I don't think the Service Manual even shows it. I'll look tomorrow.

Is it only on the passenger side in the trunk? I have also seen it but never looked under the drivers side trunk. There is one in the front drivers side inside the wheel well behind the black plastic - found it when doing the CAI install and assumed there was one on the passengers side front too. It would be strange if they were only on one side. They aren't perfect cylinders and rotate around a front-to-back axle. I think they act as a sort of ballast for weight balance but I'm no engineer. Good luck with calling Nissan on that one.

My tech was telling me about the added weights when they had my car apart for my mods. He thought it was only on the roadster as a suspension "stabilizer". I need to remember to ask if he pulled them out.......
