Hhahaha...wow. I was the individual who took this picture on this last Friday, Jan 31st on the 57 Freeway going N right before the 60. Like everyone else, I don't know the details of this car, whether it is factory or not. I was just shocked to see it on the freeway...and luckily had my digicam with me. Here is a higher res picture of it zoomed in....
Whatever the origins of this car....it stood out like a sore thumb and looked AWESOME!
Here ya go:

TeCKis300,
Way to go with the quick pics of the convertible Z! It caused so much fanfare on this site, that we now have new rules. For any future sighting, you have to flag down the truck, get the VIN off the car and you need at least two witnesses neither of which can be new car salesmen!
j/k great job!

This last shot seems promising, accept I am puzzled why
the green tree area on the top of the left page seems
to run off into the keyboard instead of having a nice clean
edge like the right page, the leaft page seems feathered
at the top.
Anyway, at least there is still the fantasy.

I think the reason for the blurriness at the top of the left page is just because of shadows. I think you are just seeing the shadow as it falls on the keyboard.
Regardless, that pics shows it to be a type of speedster thing. I say this because it seems to have a cover that has the bubbles behind the headrests to cover the top. That seems to be a new development! I didn't think it would be like that!

Try zooming in with Photoshop.
Anyway, I hope the real pictures do the car justice, so I can
make a real decision. Almost bought a hard top the other day
to pass the time until late summer.

There is a blur shadow that was cast by the flash from my camera when i took the pic. Bright spot in lower left from the flash being TOO close there.
Fingertips in pic from holding the page open to take the picture.
And obviously a keyboard since i was in front of my computer when i took the pic.
I dont understand what else there is to analyze about the picture, its from a technical specs book that was imported from Japan. Tons of pics of various stages of development all teh way back from 1999 thru 2002 and had drawings of EVERY mechanical assembly in the vehicle including the cardreader in teh dashboard for the Japnese tollway system. I can take as many pics as anyone wants, but as fas as i am concerned, that is an authentic picture of the ragtop/roadster Z that is being released in the summer. Only a few days until we will verify it for sure, but im pretty sure the real press shots will look just like that one, cept inside on a rotating pillar or some sort with tons of artificial light casting down on it.

<<hey this guy emailed me and wanted me to post this. here is the message:
The red 350z convertible on the Zcar web page is for sale at the nissan
dealership in Palm Springs CA. It is a touring edition with a 6spr
manual and light grey interior. The soft top is an aftermarket addition
done by a company in Long Beach California. They are asking $49,999.
Thought you might want to know. Feel free to post this info on the web page.
I don't have an account there so that's why I didn't do it myself.
Hope this info helps.>>

Looks like it is the real thing--only problem is we need to see the trunk area--because it is a power top w/ a flush tannue cover. Those chrome wheels looks sharp.

Well, even i have to be skeptical about the pic i posted, but from teh angles of the 2 pics (front side and rear side) its damn close and im still confident that it IS the real preproduction convertible. I wish i knew how to read this damn book so i would be positive. The lines and curves of the cars are soooooo close, and the only real difference i notice is the color of paint.
