Question Shopping for a ZRGT and have a seat question >>>

Hi Guys -

My wife and I are considering a '06 ZRGT (will be 1st convert and 1st Z). We'll probably go Silver with the Charcoal Leather, but I was wondering if anyone has the Ventilated Burnt Orange Leather seats. The Silverstone with Orange looks really cool, but none of the dealers in Dallas have the ventilated seats for me to try out.

Are they comfortable? Durable? Thoughts - recommendations?

Looking forward to joining the "club"!

Thanks!

On a hot sunny day it is the difference between having a wet back and a dry back. I had a convertable with black leather before this one and I always had to put a towel down or the seats would be too hot to sit on.

The only negative is you don't get a heated seat on the back cushion (just the bottom cushion).

+1 I've had a couple of convertables before my new ZR and leather seats don't breathe well. They get very sticky. I'm looking forward to the mesh seats. It's true that the heat is only in the bottom, but that seems to be no problem down to the high 30s (with the top down).

When I first sat in a ventilated seat, I thought it was less comfortable than the non-ventilated seats. I'm 5'10". My wife, about 5'3", thought it was fine. We had a lot of time to think about it, and when it came time to order our car, we went ahead and ordered the ventilated seats. I remembered how hot non-ventilated seats are in a roadster and didn't want to deal with that again.

Now that we have our car, I'm _really_ glad we got them. I haven't found them to be uncomfortable in terms of their fit.

If I'm not mistaken, there's a note in the owners manual regarding the mesh section of the cushion being a little abrasive to some kinds of clothing. And I've read about people having dropped bits of food in the bottom cushion's mesh and having a hard time fishing it out. But we don't eat in the car so that's not a problem for us.

Oh yeah, the headrests aren't adjustable.

Thanks for the replys guys.

The problem is my wife really wants the silver (I like it too) and from looking at the Nissan website we can't get the orange vent seats with that color.

Am I right about this??

Thanks again.

The Ventilated seats only come in Silverstone, Le mans Sunset and Magnetic Black 350zr GT

Only down side I noticed to the ventilated seats was that if your driving with the top down on a fairly cold day, you will get cold air blowing on your back which sucks. But if you put up the side windows it blocks the air from going into the seats which helps.

But as far as hot days go, the ventilated seats are awesome, keeps your back dry.

Thanks B - that's what I thought.

My wife and I are going to the auto show tomorrow, so maybe the vent seats will be there.

We're not in a hurry to get the Z because it will be a fun/extra car, so I have time. BUT, summer is coming and my wife is talking about the Z everyday!

What am I saving the top for? I enjoy the car and fix what breaks.
