Default WooHoo!!

My 2006, 350ZR Touring model, 6-speed mt, Interlagos Fire, will be delivered to the Tucson dealership on Monday. They accepted my offer of $37,000 otd, AND will be giving me a $1,000 gift card to Costco. I simply have not been able to sleep this whole weekend. The dealership let me test drive the coupe and I gotta say, fan-damn-tastic!! Talk about putting one back into the seat!J I can only imagine how thrilling the 6-speed is going to be.

Boy, 5:00 can't come soon enough! Now, I have a newbie question for you all. This will be my first convertible, so when I drive it to work tomorrow morning (top DOWN, of course) I imagine I should put the top up while at work, correct?

Also, I am not made of money so I would like your thoughts on what I should spend my first $300-$400 on. I was thinking the 3M clearcoat bra. What'cha think?

Definitely park the car for longer periods of time with the top up. That will keep the inside cleaner and it's better for the top.

I believe clear bras tend to cost a bit more than $300-$400 installed but, if you can score one for that much it's not a bad idea. The paint on the front of these tends to chip easy. You could probably spend that much on detail products to start and really keep that new toy shiny.

You could buy a nice Cold Air Intake for that much too, they give some performance gains plus, they look and sound cool.

I just wanted to say that I had the ClearBra installed on my A-Pillars and jsut those 2 peices cost $75. I am not sure you can get the whole front bumper done for 3-400. But if you can get those prices, and they do quality work, do it.

Enjoy your new toy... I LOVE MINE..

Another mid-life crisis person here! I second Stevem's advice to look for a left-over '05 if possible. I didn't set out to do that, but the dealer had a choice of 2, a new '06 Grand Touring in black, and the left-over '05 Touring in Redline. I preferred the red. The changes for the '06 didn't matter to me (LED tail lights, couple other very minor changes). I was happy with my deal at 33.5k. (Although envious of Steve's deal at 32! I offered 32 to the dealer's original 34,5000, and we agreed to 33,5000.)

Anyway, run a check on what might be in inventory in other Nissan dealers. If you can find a left-over '05 in a color you like, might be worth it.

Of course Interlagos paint is new for this year (and is an increased cost over standard paint), so if you've got your heart set on that, and if the dealer has one, then there you go, that's your car.

Just one word of advice, if the dealer doesn't really have the car you want but says he'll trade for it, you might be better off scouting out other dealers yourself. You're virtually always better off negotiating for a car a dealer already has on his lot vs. one he'll have to track down and bring in for you.
