News on the Convertible
For those on a thriftier budget, Nissan's 350Z roadster — scheduled to be unveiled at the New York auto show in April — will demand around $35,000 and will go on sale sometime this summer. For full details, see below. — Ron Kiino

Out of my range. Personally, if this Nissan's pricing strategy and it goes up from there, I don't think they'll have a lot of success with the convertible model.

I totally agree. I am hoping this is pure speculation on their part, and that they are off by a few grand. I was looking at the enthusiast, not the touring, so the jump would be too much for me to even consider. Now, if they offer a convertable in the enthusiast trim for around $30K, I think I'd be willing to pony up the extra $$ - Course I'd like to see how it looks with the top up first.
its long been rumored that performance, touring and track would be the only ones offered. leaving the base models as just that, and not increasing the price in any way. it give the convertable a certain level of luxury to have all the models with some standard features.
since the performance is 31k, a 4k premium for convertable is quite likely.

Well, if that's the case, I guess they won't be selling convertibles to people like me... My goal was to keep the price under $30K - which the enthusiast does nicely. I would be willing to go slightly over that for a convertible, but not a lot. Certainly not to $35k.
Here's hoping the rumors are just that - rumors.

Normally, I don't hold much faith in info I get from the dealerships, but one of the guys I have dealt with since buying my Z has been pretty reliable.
He heard that the convertible Z was most likely going to offered as Touring and Performance models... maybe also as Enthusiast. According to his sources, because the Track would be too expensive and not as track-able as a coupe, Nissan will not do a Track convertible.
Guess the only way we'll know for certain is when Nissan releases pricing info...
