Is the ZR your only car or do you need another car?
I've always been a 1 car guy, hence why I've always found my cars four doors (with the exception of a few).
Maxima, G35 4 door, etc.
About a year ago I got a real desire to get a true sports car and began looking at C5 vettes and Zs. I'm a huge Nissan fan as I've owned several Maximas and a Z32 TT.
Once I test drove the ZR I knew I had to have the drop top as well.
That aside, I would've never been able to buy the ZR or maybe even a base coupe if it wasn't for the fact that I had another car. Although my g/f has a Camry, I hate having to rely on using that for trips to Costco, Home Depot, etc.
I'm wondering how many people here are driving only the ZR and do not have another car. I guess if I was in HS or college still it wouldn't be so bad since I could probably borrow my g/f's car.
I have a V8 Mercury Mountaineer as well, and it's very nice to have as a people mover, grocery getter (home depot, costco, etc), and an activity vehicle (bike riding, scuba, etc.).

There is limitation to the ZR as the only car. Grocery runs usually not a problem. Costco and Home Depot trip can get dicey. If you go alone, there is always the front seat and open top. Know your limit and plan your trips accordingly. The biggest problem I have is that I always want to go to the furthest place to pick up my milk or bread, so I can drive it more.
Worst case, bring your GF and take her car. Don't think that is a bad thing.

Second car for me too (other car is a Maxima). It's the most fun car to drive I've ever owned, but no question you'll need to make other arrangements from time to time if it's your only car.
It would be pretty hard to just get by on the Roadster only... You really need another vehicle or have access to another vehicle like a family members van/suv...
Myself, I also have a FX35, so I pretty much got my bases covered...

While I absolutely love my ZR, I don't think it would be possible to only have this car. I bought mine after my sedan was paid off, but find with my needs I drive the sedan more (dog, kid, groceries). The ZR is the midlifecrises car (for me) while the other is the everyday car. I like to think of it as my impractical car versus the practical car.

I only had a handful of times where the ZR wasn't enough. Usually I call Uhaul that day and rent a cargo van for a total of $30 a day. Looking back, even if I had a 4 door car, I still wouldn't be able to fit all that crap in.
I am single and live alone so I can get by with my ZR as my only car. However, that being said, I need to be real careful what I buy at Costco or Home Depot. A lot times trips to Costco require me placing items in my trunk like's it's a puzzle.
I've also bought stuff from Ikea and just seatbelted it in the front passenger seat and left the top down. I saw one guy in a Porsche take a ladder with his top down.
You can do it, but like I said...you need to watch what you buy.

Like many others, the ZR is my second car and favorite toy! After I paid off the Sport Trac, I got the Roadster. Two years ago I looked at the coupe but couldn't pull the triiger because I would have had to trade the truck...couldn't do it! The ZR is PERFECT for a fun toy! I see having this for many years...garaged forever and low miles, about 5k/year. In 10-15 years and longer, this will be a sweet car to own in near perfect condition.
My ZR is my one and only. If I need four seats or a larger cargo area...any one of my friends with an SUV (FX45, ML500, H2 etc...) is more than willing to switch for the day. LOL. I love how I get to drive their 50k + car just because they love the Z.
Its my third car but when money gets right plan to sell/trade the othe two cars for something that is performance oriented like the ZR with a hard top. Truly thinking about selling other two cars for a used 350Z coupe for the rainy cold 3 snow days a year winter we have.
