BTW I see that there is 2 threads going on about ZR tops. Today the dealer called and said that they have a problem with the new top. After testing...it is worst than the one I have presently. Once the new top was on...they can see another future problem existing. Now it won't be ready until next Tuesday...hopefully. The sevice people have been great.

What is the problem with the new top? I took mine in this morning for the new top installation. I am very curious to know what your situation is so that I can be on the look out for the same issue. They are saying mine should be done tomorrow night. Thanks!

I just took mine in this morning as well. I'd also like to know what the problem with the new top is.

Got my car back with the new top on Friday afternoon. It looks OK. But I still have some doubts about it! It looks identical to the old top!!!!!!!

And, I had a Tinted rear window before. Now I have no Tint! I did not realize that the new top cloth has the window as part of it. I am raising Heck with the Dealer. I paid for Tinting and I want it back!!!!

Also, when the rear portion of the top closes on the rear deck of the car, it does not come all the way down, tight on the deck. It is close but not close enough. It needs to close another eighth inch to have a proper seating job.

So, as far as I am concerned, my delema is not over yet!

Same thing happened with mine when I replaced it early this year, but it takes a little time to stretch. Mine seals fine now, give it a couple weeks. I don't mind this issue with the top because I like haveing a brand new top every year or so, makes the car look new again

Yep!...Sure enough, they installed the wrong top. They did not know about the Third generation top. So, I will try to make it right! Will advise my progress.

What year is your Z, I think the 3rd generation top is for '06 and newer. At least that is why my dealer said they would not install that part number.

I have a 2004 model. I thought they were all the same! I called Nissan 1 yesterday and complained! Why would they come up with a replacement top for only the newer models and not the original ones? It just makes no sense.

If its a blue top, the third gen # is: 97150-CF40B

Black top third gen # 97150-CF40A

Thanks! My ZR is at the dealership now.. Here's what I think the problem is. There is no TSB on this top defect replacement therefore the dealer is in the dark. When a person brings in the car...they look up the vin # and that vin tells the dealer what part to order. They are now installing the part #97150-CE40A on '04.5 That part cost about $1400 vs the 3rd gen at $1700 just for the part alone. My guy says he does not know about the 3rd gen part...I called another dealer and he told me about the different cost because of the vin#'s. So I guess I'm getting the old top??
