They are now installing the part #97150-CE40A on '04.5 That part cost about $1400 vs the 3rd gen at $1700 just for the part alone. My guy says he does not know about the 3rd gen part...I called another dealer and he told me about the different cost because of the vin#'s. So I guess I'm getting the old top??
This is consistent with my experience. Before my dealer ordered my top, I told them about a new design and asked them to make sure they order the new top. They came back and said there is only one top available for my car, because there is only 1 part number came up from the computer. They also checked and confirmed that there has been 1 change for the part number. What I didn’t know was that we should be on G3, not G2. The end result: I got a new top with the exact same design put on.

Time for positive thinking: I started a poll about a year ago to find out how many people have the same problem. The trend of this non-scientific poll showed improvement from 04 to 04.5 to 05. Hope the new tops we have are the newer ones, so the chance of the same problem is lowered.

May be I should just will the problem to go away.

I wish someone would start a poll on making all these "top threads" a sticky also Nissan has to put out a TBS so all the dealers are on the same page and not left in the dark.

Maybe if we get a girl to post, then there will be a 20 page thread and it will become a sticky.
