Default Drove my ZR with the top up for the 1st time

I got my Z Roadster almost 4 months ago, and since then I have never driven it with the top up, until today.

It was in the high 50s and overcast. Normaly this would not prevent me from driving the Roadster with the top down, but I decided to do an "experiment" and leave the top up for my 45 minute drive to work. While the Z drove just as well and handled great as usual, I can definitely say that the fun factor was greatly diminished compared to top-down driving in the Z.

I think part of the reason is the fact that the "wind-in-your-hair" feeling is gone and the sound of the exhaust is slightly muffled compared to topless driving, transforming the Z into an "ordinary" performance car. Don't get me wrong, it is still alot of fun to drive with the top up, it is just so much more fun driving the Z with the top down.

Anyone else have similar experience?

wow,it breaks my heart to read what you guys have written
may be its time to buy an exhaust, rims, pop charger, FI, anything to get you back connected back to the car.

BTW
I love driving mine and I have had it for 18 months

it's not that we don't "appreciate" the Z, it's that we bought the car for that "Wind in your hair" feeling. I love driving it either way, but I feel more alive with the top down.

Sorry for the random interjection but if you want the top down but not the "wind in your hair", if you roll up the windows will it diffuse the wind? I'v never owned a convertable before but am shortly getting a 350zr..

We got our '06 ZR in February and have ridden with the top down--at least part of the day--every day since, with one exception. Admittedly, it's not a daily driver, but whenever possible the top is down. Much more enjoyable than with the top up.

i think i diffuses it 60-75% with the window up, compared to the
S2000 and miata it has a lot less wind with the window up...but does it matter the ZR is just Zexy and awZome

I have very little hair so that issue doesn't really concern me. But I do provide better aerodynamics than someone with a head full of it.

The ZR is a fantastic ride top up or down but the feel and sound especially with Nismo exhaust with top down is amazing. I will not be driving the ZR in the winter but the cold season coming (not much snow in TN) has me thinking about getting a coupe for the off season.

Normally it wouldnt but i happen to have a good ammount of hair and after driving about 30 min in the wind, it looks like a birds nest of tangled hair. Of course even so i believe i would get the roadster so just if im crusin in town i can have the top down but i was hoping i can keep the windows up and the top down and my hair not be in my face or blowing around too much.

With top down and windows up you get very little wind hitting you...

Should be no problem with windows up. Although I rarely drive with windows up myself, I do raise them on occasion when it gets colder.

If messy hair is a big concern for you, you can always wear a hat with the top down.
