I've been waiting a number of years to replace my daily driver. Around three years ago I finally found the car that would do it for me. A roadster from from the get go, that's what I gleaned. I love the coupe's lines more than the rdstr's with the top up FROM THE 3/4 FRONT ANGLE. I'm certain that with the top up some views won't look as good as the CP. IMO it will dazzle the eye just as well, given the vantage. Few automibles totally satisfy the camera reguardless of composion.

Do you all know it is still the new 350- Z, and absolutely 99.8% of all that JOY?

If it's not too late, I'd love to see the fabric sweep back at an angle that better suggests the lines of the coupe. I wish the cup holders... uh, I mean the fixed mast antenna... uh, the citrus peel paint.......... f'get about it!

I'm buying one NISSAN. Y'hear? Tell me about the trim levels, please. I'd like an 6M Enthusiast Silverstone or Brickyard. Any chance? Any new color options? Can I pre order? Reguardless of the pain you (NISSAN) went through, you did it with very good scores. Let's see a poll on that topic. With all the variables tossed in, I'll guess at least an 80% satisfaction score, ON THE PRE ORDER OPTION. I'll take an 80% chance that I'll get my new roadster exactly on time and exactly as promised. What will push it up closer to 100% is the LA area dealer I choose ( trolling ?)

Bottom line...... I'll honk at you if you honk at me ;-).

Wow! My head hurts after reading that post. And I thought I was bad about going off on a tangent now and then! Jeez!

Oh on the subject of the top,...yuck. Unfortunately, way too late to expect that they might change it. I still drool every time I see the chopped targa pic. I don't think they should make one though. The convertable isn't going to expected to break any performance records in the first place, but the rest of the models need to be all about chassis rigidity.

C'mon guys, don't you think doing a petition for every little detail that isn't to your taste is kind of silly?

You're right.

I am going to start a petition to limit the number of petitions! That will teach em!!!!

That's not a t-top, that's a Targa. I think a t-top would look better than this chop.

All you vert haters, maybe there will be an optional hard top for you. I think the vert top in the up position looks fine (for a convertible).

Okay... this thread has gotten a little off from my original intent. Let me re-qualify my position and then I'll move on to more important matters.

First, I did not consider this a "little detail" for this reason...
Until my thread (this one), every thread discussing the convertible with the top up had many posts about how ugly it was (don't believe me... go back and read them yourself). It wasn't until this thread that a lot of people started going, "well, it's not that bad."

Based on the prior threads, to me, it seemed as if most everyone agreed that the convertible top (up) appearance degraded from the overall appeal of the car. Since the Z is an "image" car for Nissan, I felt the outer appearance was as important as its performance capability.

I agree complaining or petitioning about every little detail is absurd and, to date, this is the first thing I have raised my voice about because it definitely creates a different visual impact.

Will it make a difference to say something? Probably not this year, but it could make a difference with future models. Didn't they listen when everyone started gripping about their Touring Bose stereos? Didn't they change production to address the "greasy window problem? Sometimes, they do listen...

I also acknowledge JmanZ's stance on this. It seems (based on the responses to this thread) that it is not as big an issue to the overall Z community as prior threads indicated.

So... with all that said.. I hope Nissan will make a change to convertible top in the future, but will lay the "cause" to rest here and hope those that order the convertible will be just as happy with it as we coupe owners are... despite it's obvious... disfigurement.

Now... to more accurately gauge everyone's feeling of the convertible, I think I'll create a poll... hehehe

Created the poll... if you want to provide your input on the overall look of the convertible with the top up, go here to vote...
