Default ZR - Hot smell after driving

My 06 ZR seems to have developed a hot smell after driving it for only 5 - 10 miles. I don't notice it in the car, only when I stop and get out. The temp guage is normal, all fluids are normal and everything else seems normal. I can't locate the source of the smell. The smell, seems to be rubber or tar based, but that's just a guess. It's no more noticeable with the hood open.

Amy ideas or areas to check? Nothing has changed except I put winter tires on it. Same wheels, same size tires. The tires do not feel warm to the touch.

Thanks everyone

My 05ZR did the same thing. The dealer said I had a defective Crankshaft pulley. Also Said if when replaced the belt doesn't tighten up right then I may need a new engine. Luckily this wasn't the case but then again they would have been giving me a new car considering I had just bought it. Strangely enough my pulley was almost cracked in two but somehow or another it stayed in there. He said i was luck it didn't just come apart and ruin the car as I was driving. They ordered a replacement part and put me in a Dodge Charger for about 4 days. Everything has been fine since the repair.

Also you may want to make sure you have no small oil leaks. A friend of mine had a leak due to a faulty Key Seal in his Z. His car would smoke like a chimney after driving it a few minutes but it never ran hot – no check engine light or anything.

Off to the dealership you go... hope they get your straight!

***I thought mine was rubber or tar also but turns out it wasn't lol***

Wow! I guess I better take it over there. It only has 2000 miles. There are no oil leaks, I watch that.
Was there any noise or any other signal?

Thanks!

Check for a plastic bag stuck to the underside of your car.

Good news: The dealer couldn't find anything wrong. They blamed it on being new. Interesting though, we can't smell anything anymore either. Maybe there was some plastic on the underbelly somewhere.
