Black or Silver?
Both color looks great on the Z... I've owned both silver and black cars and
if you know how to wash the car properly, washing, and waxing time takes the same. I have a black Z..and it usually took me almost 2 hours wash, wax at first...but now it only takes 45 min including Zaino cure time...
You just can't say no to the beauty of clean black Z.....

black shows more but i also had the grey it hid the scratches better but still shows dust big time GET THE CALIFORINA DUSTER it takes about 2 min to get the dust off. and I have a 1 1/2 mile gravel dirt road @ 5200 ft high black hills mt I live on 1/2 desert about 12 in of moisture yrly and just bought BLACK
I had a 2005 black 350Z for a year and man when it was clean it was beautiful. But after a year all of the micro scratches started showing up in the direct sun light. I washed my car once a week and still they were a ***** to get rid of. This irritated the crap out of me. I have since totaled that car and would never go to a black car again. I now drive a silver alloy convertible. Even when I know the car is dirty it still looks clean. A lot less washing to maintain a clean look. I would definitely switch to other "lighter" colors, pikes peak or lemans but will never go back to a dark colored car again.
my two cents.

^I'm totally opposite. I've owned Silver cars before and somehow it got boring on me.. Now this is my first black car and I must say I love it.
If you can keep up with carwash once a week, IMO this is the best looking
color. I've seen one '03 SB Z at the meeting and it looked like it was covered
with mirror. I thought it was brand new bought '05 but he said he bought it when it first came out in '02. I know my next ride color would be...a black.

. . . and nothing looks worse when it's dirty.
It lives in the garage when not being driven, and weekly treatments with Meguiar's instant detailer is great for keeping it looking super.
Black is beautiful, but you definitely have to work for it more than any other color.

That said, Black is probably the best looking color when its kept up in mint condition....

It's all a matter of dedication, brothers. I spent 4+ hours this morning detailing my wife's black '04 MB SL500, then worked on my black Z for another two. They now both look stunning - but the cost was most of a Saturday.
The thing that remains most noticeable to me is the quality of the paint - the stock Benz's is stunning (it's a mirror, and shows EVERY flaw), and my stock Z's is pretty lame (orangepeel) by comparison when they sit-by-side under flourescent lights. I know, you would expect a big difference in a $40.K car versus a $90.K car, but I still think Nissan uses the softest mass production paint possible. This car is the most susceptible to stone chips I've ever owned.
You definitely have to work for it, but black is beautiful - especially cruising under the lights at night.

a black car is like a mistress, more upkeep, more cost, etc. and a silver one is like your significant O, just gotta pay attention to her once in a while both are beautiful but you'd impress your friends with the mistress and black has got that wow factor, MHO
Buy whichever color you like best. But if I were in your situation (and I was back in March), I'd choose silver in a heartbeat.
As so many others have said, black is stunning when it's clean and detailed. But it's a PITA to keep clean regardless of whether the car is a daily driver or weekend cruiser. That's a big part of the reason why I went with a silver roadster rather than a black roadster. The other reason I chose silver is because I like silver.
