Default getting a used '04 350z roadster, any advice?

Hi,

I'm new to this forum, and I'm looking into getting a used 2004 350z touring roadster. Can you guys give me any advice into what to expect and what to look for when inspecting the car?

Also, the 350z I'm looking at only have 9k miles on it and dealer is selling for $25k, I guess this is a good price right? It has a clean title.

Thanks in advance,
Alan

If its a manual check for grinding in the gears, a few of the 04's have had transmissions problems, but were talking a small percentage overall...

Look along the back seam across the top and make sure the corners are not coming apart, also look inside the top to make sure there is no pin holes, usually you will be able to some light coming thru. If the car is still under warranty they will replace the top.

Also check the inside of the tires, even tho the outside might look like its got plenty of tire tread left, the inside wears out fast, so you want to make sure there not trying to sell you worn out tires...

One more thing, axle clicking when accelerating from a stop listen for a clicking sound, it will sound like your dropping marbles in a tin pan... There is a TSB on it so if the car is still under warranty they will fix it..

I think thats pretty much the major issues..

Offer the dealer 25k OTD (thats out the door-including taxes, fees, etc).

In addition to the items that Built2shredZ identified above, you should also ask the dealer if the fuel hose recall has been done on this car, and have them do it if it has not been performed.

Assuming that everything is in order, $25K for '04 Touring Roadster with 9K miles sounds like a good price. I bought my '04 Touring Roadster in June (6 months ago) with 12K mi on it for $27K.

Default thx for all the advice

thx for all the advice, i'll make sure i ask about the recalls and look for the hole on the top (btw, where does the hole on the top usually comes in, if there is a hole, if i take it to the dealer to have it fix, it won't happen again correct?)

also, how reliable is this car? i'm looking into keeping this car for a long time

thx

I bought mine for 28k OTD (2005 touring Auto - 2 full years of warranty left) with 13K miles a few weeks ago.

Don't pay more than 25.5 OTD. Offer them 25k first.

Goodluck,
Tony
