Not too long ago I was coming home late, down a FWY off ramp that has nice right turn, then a left and then a straight down to the surface street. I took the first turn like I normally do when no one around, about 60 or so and then I saw them.... sprinklers.. holy crap!! I knew I was screwed. I hit the water and the back end started coming around to my left, I over corrected, the back came around to the right and the right rear wheel slammed into the curb.

That sent me back the other way and I went rear end first up onto a very wide shoulder. I think I did a 360 first but not sure, it all happend so fast.

Upshot was that I tore up the right rear suspension, busted the right axle and destroyed the wheel.

The upside? No one else on the ramp at time, no injuries and amazingly no body damage except for a small scratch at back of the right rear wheel well.
I did not claim it on insurance. Just over $5K including a new tire.

 

The important thing is you're ok. Once you get it repaired you should just try again. Practice makes perfect.

You make it sound like no one was hurt from your mistake. Consider yourself lucky and next time try the track. Still a bummer though.
