That would be super. If anybody figures this out, that'd be a great mod.

By buddys S2K's top will only move when the E-Brake light is on, so he just pulls the e-brake slightly to move the top while moving.

yeah, unfortunately, our top's control is tied to the brake pedal. I'm not trailing my brakes to do this.

This is number one on my wish list. A company managed to make a simple modification kit for the 97 to 05 porsche boxster and carrera to allow them to drop the top on the move.

Hopefully, some will find a solution.

By-passing the brake light using a piece of wire and a switch to simulate foot on brake is not hard, but I remember seeing some discussions long time ago that our cars use logic to also monitor the speed. This makes it hard. With that said, I suspect Nissan go thru all that trouble for a reason. Don't think they would bother to spend $ on things that is not needed.

Umm why would you want to lower it while moving. The wind added in will destroy the convertible motor over time.

I agree, let alone the whole parachute effect. I open mine when I leave and close it when I return *shrug*

It took me about 20 minutes to rewire the connections of the Roof Control Module (inside the roof storage area). No parts needed only one wire to cut (12V when brake)and power wire to split. (Can easily disconnected without to be noticed by dealer) Brake pedal depress is no longer necessary, however the second safety device is more difficult, the Control Module also has 2 signal input from the speedsensor (CAN wire- Hi & Lo), this will prevent function when car is moving faster than 5 km/hr. By cutting one of this this wires (or both), the top can be open & close at any speed but at the same time a fault code will stored in the memory (dealer will find out). I try to mislead the sensor, to move the speedlimit to approx 10 km/hr.

So did you succeeded this? If so, detailed instructions please!

Only an idiot would drop his top while cruising too fast. Imagine this...Cruising down the boardwalk about 2 mph and suddenly your top starts coming down. All eyes on me! Or pulling out the club while your top is dropping. That's tight!

Doesn't sound like a mod that's good for the top. There's stress on the motor and joints from: the wind, the bumps on the road and the forces from the moving car. I'd imagine that the top is only sturdy completely up or down.

Unless your doing this to show off, why in the world would you want to? It only takes 20 seconds to drop or close the top. I think it cool to drop it at a light all eyes will be on you, if your droping it driving 5 miles an hour all eyes will be on you and saying "what an idiot".

I think this is just a matter of preference and convenience to some people. All the 986 & 996 porsche convertible did not allow the roof to be operated. But all the 987 and 997 allows the top to be operated up to 30 mph. I guess there must be a big demand for this kind of conveniece for one of the top car manufacturers to offer this function.

The reason I made this modification is while I driving in a traffic jam (which is very common here in Europe) I found that 20 seconds complete standstill is still rather long. Everytime I decided to close or open the top the traffic starts to move (or creep). You can imagine that traffic behind get irritated to watch and wait till the top has been dropped. The Z top construction is certainly too weak to openend/ close it at speed higher than 15 kms.

BTW,: This subject has been posted already long time ago.

this doesnt seem like the greatest idea...

something better would be able to drop the top from the remote on your keys. instead of just droppin the windows i would rather the top lower as i walk to it at a hold of a button... now thats something that would be a better idea

How would you disengage the manual lock?
