Well the way i see it i've had many friends in the pss when the top was being put up. It moves forward because I think the pass goes back further and the bar hits or will hit them in the head it happened to friend of my he leaned back and the bar hit his head. So that why its goes forward. saftey feature.

no...... it goes forward to access your glovebox for loose items that may blow away with the top down

Huh? Shouldn't it go even further back to make it harder for things to blow away?

the seat tilts forward...... so you can put any items in the car in the glovebox that is BEHIND the seat.

The owners manual says that it is a safety measure. An "alert," if you will, to the passenger that tells them the top is in motion. Obviously the driver does not need an "alert" as they are the one that is operating it. You can cancel the seat movement simply by turning off the passenger automatic seatback button on the back.

Depends on the length of your arms, as the driver, you lean forward to push the button to lower the top. You shd end up about the same position as the passenger with the seat tilted forward.

I thought it moved forward to prevent cervical spine injuries in the event of a rear collision during automatic top operation...

The passenger seat tilts forward so you don't whack your passenger in the head with the top... The driver seat doesn't need to do this as you lean forward anyways to hold the button down to put the top down/up...
