Default new 350z owner question top light

Hi everyone,

Just bought my 1st Z, a 04' 350Z touring roadster & about to take it on vacation, last night when I took the top down the "top light" stayed on? The top seems to function fine, up & down, but the convertible top light is staying on when in the top is down.

Is this something I need to have fix right away? Really wanting to enjoy our vacation (leaving in the morning) & enjoy the Z while driving with the top down through the beautiful Ozark mountains, but am worried about this light.

Again... is seems to go up & down fine, but light still on, when in down position, I am asuming it is down all the way (100%), but maybe it's not & I don't want to hurt anything driving it this way.

Any feedback much appreciated & I am so gald I have found this cool forum. I have been searching for this answer, but without finding any threads related

Chances are the tonneau cover isn't locking into place, consequently the sensors aren't engaging. I had the same issue and had it repaired under warranty. You can read my post here from this thread:

How worried should I be about this, if it "looks" like it completely down?

What's some forum members thoughts, on will it hurt anything to drive it with the top down in this condition?

Will take it in to dealership for repair, but wanting thoughts on driving it this way for a few days while on vacation that is starting right now...

Personally, I don't like driving my ZR around when everything, and I mean everything, isn't operating properly. But that is just me. That said, if it's just a few days I doubt it would be a big deal.

I 100% agree!! My oil consumption issue has been bugging the HELL out of me for the past year! I don't even drive it when it is dirty!

I "like" my car not "love" it when there is a pesky problem.

If you bought your Z from a dealer take it right back and have them fix it. That sort of thing should be fixed before it goes out to a new owner. If you drive it on vacation first the dealer could say "well, it was fine when it left here" and you've got no proof otherwise.

Of course it's frustrating to disrupt your vacation plans. Can you hear whether the top clicks into place when it's going down?
