2007 350Z Convertible top material
I am getting conflicting answers as to the make up of the top material. Some say vinyl some say fabric. I tried the test someone recommended by placing water on the top and rubbing it and if it soaks in it is fabric if not it is vinyl. Mine seems to soak in, so I would assume it is fabric but the majority of people even some experts say it has to be vinyl. Looking to clear up this issue before i ruin my top by using the incorrect products on my top. I have ordered some vinyl products from Raggtopp for a vinyl top. Any thoughts on this issue would be most welcome. How often should you clean and protect your top?
I know its for sure not cloth. And its definitely not as shiny and water shedding as vinyl. But its probably a textured vinyl or I think a more appropriate term may be canvas. So I think the cleaner/protector for vinyl tops is the one to use.
Im sure this didnt help you any : )

The protectant is the main difference that determines which one you will use.
350Z Roadsters' tops are made from a synthetic material found in Japan. This is coming from Haartz (They're only the biggest convertible top producer in the World). They actually don't know what the material is called, BUT they do know it's Synthetic NOT fabric/cloth.
This is the protectant I use on my SYNTHETIC top.
I suggest contacting haartz for their opinion. They are the #1 convertible top maker in the world.

You might also want to contact Raggtop for their opinion also. I use raggtop products on my car.

I contacted them a while back. The top is a synthetic vinyl blend. It is reccomended to use vinyl protectant.
For proof, just go look at a convertible with a 'cloth' top, like a Benz or a Porsche. It is clearly different.
