Default Extended Warranty

If you buy the extended warranty from Nissan does this include the top? If so can you buy it after the original purchase date?

I don't think it includes the actual top - but you could probably persuade them to replace the top of you had separation issues because it would be consider a flawed design vs. damage or neglect.

You can buy the extended warranty after the original purchase date as long as you are still within the original warranty period (3yr/36K miles).

I bought the Security+Plus Gold Preferred warranty with the $50 deductible
and paid $1560 for 7 years or 100,000 total vehicle miles.

I would highly recommend getting it as the dealer has spent over $4000 in parts fixing my roof opening/closing issues so far. The roof motors are around $800 each (there are 4) - the roof control unit is like $650 and they still aren't done.

Good luck!

I too am interested in the extended warranty for my ZR. Is that a set price you paid? That is, do all of the dealers charge the same for the package you chose?

Hey John,

Most of the people I have talked to paid around $1500 for the warranty I have - the $0 deductible version of my warranty costs $300 more.

I also bought my warranty from a different dealer than the one that sold my car, so it pays to comparison shop if you know what I mean...

The extended warranties do cover more parts than the standard warranty. Plus, if your dealer knows that you have an extended warranty they are more apt to bill Nissan vs. you if they find something wrong.

Anyway, if you want to know exactly what parts the warranty covers - you can see the different components here:

(Click on "Coverage Chart" on the left)

You can also see the differences in the warranties here:

Good Luck!

So if your over the 3 years/36 months no chance of an extended warranty?

I got an extended warranty through route 66 warranty company. It was around 1200.00 covers everything the factory warranty does for 5 years/100,000 miles. Everything but body I think including the top Hopefully I won't have to worry about it.

I'm looking at some extended warranties and am just over 36k. They are not having any problem with selling me one if I want it.
