Default Any thoughts on keeping the top down for months at a time??

Would anything break down or cause anything to malfunction if i kept the top down for a month or two at a time before putting it back up??

My fear would be massive creases in the fabric.

As I recall, it's recommended the top stay up, especially for long periods of time. As suggested, it helps keep creases, mold, etc. from forming.

I think the OP just wanted to let us know that he COULD leave his top down for months at a time.

I think the owners manual says to put it up for extended periods of time. The vinyl can crease and actually shrink in cooler weather. If it has been down for a long time you will put extra pressure on the seams when you put it back up because it has to stretch a little.

Also, if there is ANY hint of water or moisture - from rain or washing, like beaded up in the corner seams or whatnot - I would always worry about mold or mildew that could get built up and funky if left all folded up and contained for long time...

my thoughts on this, which i will do when i get home, is to get a small air compressor and blow the air out of those hidden spaces....

Basically its a technique used for car detailing. You can use a shop vac blower or a air compressor to blow water out of those crevices, behind the mirror, door jams, etc.. so that you can completely dry everything. I know for me it seemed after I was done drying the car, I always find that little trickle of water that goes over the surface I just dried either from water behind the mirror, the hatch, door handle, etc..

Point being you can use it to get the water out of those tight, tough to get to areas, including the top, that could cause that mold or mildew... just a thought..
