shallow sub...?
so yea... i have a touring rdster, came with the bose... and everyone knows... bose blows....
my woofer is either blown or i have a shorted out wire, or something...
regardless, its just not enough for me even wen it works lol
so...
i was doing some research and figured to get an enclosure behind the driver or pass. seat i need to have a custom box (C.A.S. box) wich would cost around $300 a peice... im not gonna spend $300 just on enclosures... yea, i kno u get what u pay for, but wen u cant afford to pay for it, u dont get it.. got me? =]
lol
so, i was looking for "shallow subs" to replace the factory bose sub...
they dont run too much, so thats not a problem...
i was wondering if anyone knows how they would sound, would it be ok to just remove the factory sub and amp and put a aftermarket one in the place of the bose w.out a diff enclosure... and if thats all good.... any suggestions as to wich sub to go with for maximum bass?

There's a few requirements...
On top of being a shallow sub, it has to be a freeair sub, from what I've read here on the boards. The bose enclosure apparently isn't an enclosure at all.
Also, assuming your bose amp will be powering the bose sub, you may need to make sure your sub fits the power ratings that match the bose amp.

lol.. na gonna keep the insurance on...
but yea, def gonna change out the amp... i wouldnt even call what bose has an amp.. 15 rms? pfff... i think a AAA battery could shed out more power lol...
but yea.. the RF P3 sounds good and all.. but is it a freeair sub?
the whole CAS box is outta the question unless someone sells one used for cheap (yea right) or i somehow come across someone who knows damn well what they are doin with plexiglass.... so basically not goin that route....
im basically looking for opinions on shallow freeair subs... the hardest hitting one out there... and as for the amp, after i decide on a sub, i'll look for an amp... thats easy... an amp isnt to hard to find a mounting area for... lol
so anyone... shallow freeair subwoofer that hits pretty damn good for what it is?!? =p
