New member of the family finally arrived!
Hey Syfon and my buddy from Alabama,
As for your particular questions. I do notice the thin rim of light at the back of the cover, not at the back of the windows. But to be honest I haven't had her out in the rain yet, and I've never had a convertible before to compare these findings. I tried to look at a couple of mercedes covertibles today from outside the car and they seem the to have the same seal externally as our car.
I also wanted you to know that the interior of the rag top is definitely lined and looks good and feels very contained when closed. Not to mention that the mechanism of opening is so cool and every body that witnesses it seems to be in awe. I also have been looking through the owners manual, and there is only one power outlet, and the you can order special an air bag kill switch, but does not appear to come standard. Hope this info helps,
Bulldog

I have read every piece of info that Nissan has posted on the Z and in one thread Bulldog has told us more than Nissan had to offer.
Thank You Bulldog.
PS according to Nissan someone stole one of your power outlets.

Hey Ephilyawjr,
thanks for the comments. Yeah NYC is a ton of fun, however, this seems to be the summer of rain up north(supposed to rain from now through friday). Limited driving fun in these nasty conditions.
Hang in there with regards to your roadster on the way. You'll get it soon, and luckily in your climate you should be able to drive it for many more months with the top down. It is definitely worth the wait. Your going to be a celeb. in Alabama in this hot rod.
Peace, Bulldog

It has rained in Mobile all but 10 days since May 1 - But thats okay you can't put the top down in Mobile, AL between June 1 and August 30th anyway - The leather would melt.
Its 95% Humutidy & 95 Degrees - Thats an aparent temperature of 195. - But hey I can turn on the heated seats and drive all but like 10 days of winter.
Later -
PS There are 2 dealers in Mobile - The "Other" dealership already got one of their orders in.

Had her out in the pouring rain today for the first time. Despite the heavy rain and the little rim of light underneath the back of the cover, not a drop of water got into the seats or the space between the roll bars and the cover. This also led to driving the car with the top up for the first time. The ride is surprisingly quiet, and I had to rely on the rpm's more than the sound to know when to change gears.
As for the Bose stereo system Ryan, I am certainly no audio expert, but I think that it sounds pretty good. I only have to increase the volume when driving fast with the top down to hear it more clearly. Otherwise I think it has a good sound with a strong base. I was concearned about this before I brought her home, given all the negative comments on this site re: the sound quality.

Here's the story on the Airbag kill switch. You have to apply to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration and receive approval. It sounds like approval is essentially automatic if you meet the requirements. If you have children under 12 and no backseat, this seems to be enough. Then all you have to do is review a pamphlet and send in the form. The NHTSA will then send you an approval letter which you then take to your dealer and they will install the switch. At this point some of this is speculation because I sent the form out today (via fax). I will update when I hear from the NHTSA.(probably in a separate thread so everyone can see it). More info and the form can be found at www.nhtsa.gov. At this point, my dealer claims the switch is $250, the harness is $250 and the install is $275. Quite an expensive switch (although I'll probably do it anyway).
I can't wait to have the convertible in Dubai the UAE.
Until now we dont have a definite answer from Nissan when it will be available and for how much.
Awesome Car Bulldog.
can't wait to ride one like that, and the black colour is so hot.

Thanks Jlamara. I love the black because the silver accents in the Z emblem and in the lights really shows up well.
I checked ou the s2000 as well azjimbo. The interior is pretty cool, especially in all red with all of the components matching. It was a tight fit for me, with my left shoulder resting on the door. Also, I have to agree with you that the 350z roadster is so much hotter looking. Hey to each his own, and my choice is clear!!

The S2000 is made for people who are only 5'6" or smaller and weigh less than 150 pounds. I weigh 195 and My butt did not even hit the seats - I was floating on the sides. Also the S2000 has a digital dash that can not be read while the top is down on a sunny day. (Son do you know how fast you was going when I pulled you over? - Uh No.)
The 350Z Roadster styling is far superior also.
